ROTTERDAM, 26 January 2026 – February brings a full month of Typical Tropical nights out, plus a new round of salsa, bachata and kizomba classes starting in the first week. You have LatinXpress at Grounds, a free Latin night at Café Dox in the New Luxor Theatre, and LatinOase at Oase.
If you want your social calendar sorted early, these are the key dates to circle: Monday 2 to Sunday 8 February for the start of trial classes (proeflessen) and courses, Saturday 7 February for LatinXpress at Grounds, Wednesday 18 February for Latin Café Dox (Latincafé Dox), and Saturday 21 February for LatinOase.
Trial classes and courses start 2 February
Typical Tropical is starting a new block of salsa, bachata and kizomba classes in early February, with trial classes running from Monday 2 February to Sunday 8 February. The full course period runs from Monday 2 February to Sunday 12 April 2026.
You can choose between 10 lessons of 1 hour or 5 lessons of 2 hours, with levels ranging from absolute beginner to master. Classes take place at Typical Tropical Studios, Schiekade 830, Rotterdam, and you can register here: https://typicaltropical.nl/inschrijven
LatinXpress at Grounds on 7 February
LatinXpress returns on Saturday 7 February at Grounds, with separate salsa and bachata rooms. The line-up is split across the two floors: DJs Phily and Carlos in the salsa room, and DJs Jarzino and Isza in the bachata room.
Doors open at 22:00 and the night runs until 03:30 at Grounds, Pieter de Hoochweg 125, Rotterdam. Free Latin Café Dox at New Luxor on 18 February
On Wednesday 18 February, Typical Tropical teams up with the Nieuwe Luxor Theater for a free edition of Latin Café Dox. DJ Virgil plays salsa and bachata, with merengue or kizomba appearing from time to time.

LatinOase at Oase on 21 February
LatinOase returns on Saturday 21 February at Oase, with a mix of salsa, bachata and more, following a sold-out edition in November. DJs Latin Master and El Pequeno Loco are listed for the night.

How to get there
Typical Tropical Studios (Schiekade)
Typical Tropical Studios is close to Rotterdam Centraal, with trams, buses and metro options nearby, which makes it an easy one to reach even if you’re coming straight from work. If you’re cycling, you’ll be there quickly from the centre, and paid parking is available in the area.
Grounds (Pieter de Hoochweg)
Grounds sits just west of the centre, and it’s straightforward by public transport from Rotterdam Centraal. The venue itself points you towards tram connections from Centraal, and you can also get there via the metro and a short walk.
Café Dox at the New Luxor Theatre (Wilhelminaplein)
Café Dox is right by the Rijnhaven waterfront, next to the New Luxor Theatre, and it’s a comfortable ride on metro or tram via Wilhelminaplein. If you’re walking from the centre, it’s a nice route across the Erasmus Bridge area.
Oase (Schiehaven)
Oase is in Rotterdam West by the Schiehaven, and you can reach it by metro via Delfshaven or Coolhaven, then walk the last stretch. If you want something very Rotterdam, you can even take the watertaxi to Schiemond and finish on foot.
