Rotterdam dance school Typical Tropical has announced its November 2026 programme, with new salsa and bachata courses, a Colombian salsa bootcamp and two social dance events. The schedule includes a free evening at Café DOX, Tropalize at ZOHO and a preview of December's LatinXpress party at Grounds.
ROTTERDAM, 29 October 2026 - Whether you're learning your first salsa steps or already spending your weekends on the dancefloor, Typical Tropical has several activities planned for November. The Rotterdam dance school is starting a new course season at its Schiekade studios, alongside workshops and social events at venues around the city.
The programme covers salsa, Dominican and fusion bachata, and opportunities to practise outside the classroom. Here's what's coming up.

New salsa and bachata courses begin on 9 November
From Monday 9 to Sunday 15 November, Typical Tropical begins a new round of salsa and bachata classes at its studios on Schiekade 830.
The school offers courses for different experience levels, from complete beginners to advanced dancers. The programme includes regular ten-week courses consisting of ten one-hour lessons, alongside accelerated formats with five two-hour lessons.
Students can choose between salsa and different approaches to bachata, including Dominican Bachata and Bachata Fusion. Lessons include partner work, musicality and combinations appropriate to each level.
If you're unsure whether dancing is for you, the first week of the regular courses also offers trial lessons. These run from 9 to 15 November, allowing newcomers to experience a class before deciding whether to enrol for the remainder of the season.
The regular course season continues until 31 January 2027, with a winter break from 21 December to 3 January. A ten-week course costs €140 per person or €270 per couple, while trial lessons cost €8.50 per person or €17 per couple.
You can register without a dance partner. Typical Tropical regularly rotates partners during lessons, although this is voluntary and couples can choose to dance together.

Salsa Caleña bootcamp on 15 November
On Sunday 15 November, instructors Clayton and Lisa will lead a two-hour beginner's workshop introducing Salsa Caleña, the Colombian salsa style associated with the city of Cali.
Known for its quick footwork, rhythmic variations and energetic movements, Salsa Caleña has a different character from the salsa styles more commonly taught in Dutch dance schools.
The workshop introduces the fundamentals of the style, with attention to timing, basic steps and characteristic footwork patterns. No previous dance experience is required, making it suitable for complete beginners as well as dancers curious about a different salsa tradition.

Free Latincafé DOX on 18 November
Wednesday 18 November brings another edition of Latincafé DOX, the free monthly dance evening organised by Typical Tropical in collaboration with the Nieuwe Luxor Theatre.
Taking place at Café DOX on Wilhelminapier, the event provides a midweek opportunity to dance salsa and bachata, with occasional merengue and kizomba tracks in the mix.
DJ Virgil is announced for the November edition, with music from 20:30 until 00:30. There is no admission charge, so visitors can drop in for an evening of social dancing without purchasing a ticket.

Tropalize returns to ZOHO on 21 November
Typical Tropical's November announcement also includes another Tropalize social on Saturday 21 November at ZOHO in Rotterdam-Noord.
The event brings salsa and bachata together on a 200-square-metre dancefloor, with an additional 150-square-metre lounge area. DJ Virgil is scheduled to provide the music, mixing salsa and bachata with other Latin tracks throughout the evening.
Unlike a dance class or workshop, Tropalize is a social dance party where participants can move between partners, practise what they've learned and enjoy the music without following a structured lesson.
The organisers have announced advance ticket tiers of €10, €12.50 and €15. Door tickets are listed at €15 cash or €16 by card. The cloakroom costs €1 per item, payable in cash, and toilets are free.

Looking ahead: LatinXpress at Grounds on 5 December
Although there is no LatinXpress edition in November, the monthly party returns to Grounds in Delfshaven on Saturday 5 December.
LatinXpress uses two separate dance areas, allowing visitors to switch between salsa and bachata throughout the evening.
DJs Rojo and Rachella are scheduled for the salsa room, while Mo and El Pequeño Loco will provide the music in the bachata room. Tropical food will be available from Huize Wekker, with photography by RH Fotografie.
The event runs from 22:00 until 03:30. Presale tickets range from €10 to €18.50, depending on availability and sales tier. Tickets at the door cost €17.50 cash or €18.50 by card. The cloakroom costs €1 per item, payable in cash, and toilets are free.

Typical Tropical's Rotterdam studios are located at Schiekade 830, close to Hofplein and Rotterdam Centraal. The venue has two dance studios with mirrored walls and dedicated dancefloors.
