The ABN AMRO Open in Ahoy Rotterdam will use a new Tournament Tune by the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, with a live ensemble opening the final.

Rotterdam Philharmonic plays tournament tune at ABN AMRO Open

ROTTERDAM, 27 January 2026 – When the ABN AMRO Open returns to Ahoy Rotterdam this February, every match will start with a new “Tournament Tune” performed by the Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest. The music will play before each match and will accompany the players as they walk onto court, with a live ensemble set to open the final on Saturday 15 February.

The tournament runs from 7 to 15 February at Ahoy Rotterdam, and you’ll also be able to follow it live via Ziggo Sport.

Tournament tune before every match

The specially composed tune will be heard ahead of each match, adding a consistent musical moment to the start of play in Ahoy.

“Music and elite sport strengthen each other. The Tournament Tune by the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra creates a unique atmosphere in Ahoy and turns the players’ entrance onto the court into a special moment for everyone in the arena,” says tournament director Richard Krajicek.

The biggest moment comes at the end of the week: an ensemble from the Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest will perform the tune live to open the final on Saturday 15 February.

If you’ve been to Ahoy for tennis before, you’ll know how much the build-up matters. This is designed to make that walk-on feel like an event in itself, with the orchestra setting the tone before the first ball is struck.

Recording session at De Doelen

A delegation from the ABN AMRO Open, including Richard Krajicek and Esther Vergeer, attended the live recordings in De Doelen in December 2025. Tournament ambassador Jan Kooijman, who is also a choreographer and dancer, was there as well. It is a Rotterdam-on-Rotterdam collaboration: a Rotterdam orchestra recording in a Rotterdam concert hall, made for a Rotterdam tournament in Ahoy.

This is not the first time the tournament and the orchestra have teamed up. The Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest previously provided the Tournament Tune in 2015, 2016 and 2017. This year’s tune is presented as a new composition for the 2026 edition, bringing the idea back into the arena with fresh music for the player entrances.
