Baroeg reopens in Rotterdam on 25 April 2026 in a new building on Spinozaweg, bringing most shows back to Lombardijen from April.

New Baroeg in Rotterdam opens on 25 April 2026

ROTTERDAM, 12 February 2026 – Baroeg, Rotterdam’s longest-running pop venue (poppodium), will officially reopen on Saturday 25 April 2026 in a newly built home in Lombardijen. After closing in April 2024, the venue is set to return, with most shows moving back to Spinozaweg from April 2026.

The municipality-owned building has been replaced because the old venue was outdated, and Baroeg is now returning with a new building designed around live shows, backstage facilities, and a café area.

What the new Baroeg building includes

Baroeg’s new venue includes a concert hall with stage, backstage facilities such as a loading dock and dressing rooms with sanitary facilities, plus a kitchen, green room, café with bar, public facilities, offices, and a spacious entrance area.

During the closure, concerts continued at other venues in Rotterdam and the surrounding area under the name Baroeg On Tour. That concept continues, while the new building becomes the main home for most shows from April 2026.

Opening day plans and live music

A number of try-out shows are planned for early April, ahead of the official reopening on Saturday 25 April 2026. The opening day includes a toast to the new chapter in the presence of Alderman Kasmi (culture portfolio), with live music. Alternative rock band Red Night is confirmed via the talent development project Rock Central, with more bands to be announced.

Why Baroeg matters to Rotterdam’s music scene

Alderman Kasmi positions Baroeg as a key part of Rotterdam’s cultural life, with a reach that extends beyond the city. “Poppodium Baroeg is of enormous importance to Rotterdam’s cultural climate and also serves fans far beyond the city’s borders. It puts Rotterdam further on the map internationally, musically and culturally.”

Baroeg has been active since 1981 and is known as a home for heavier alternative music, with a reputation inside and outside the Netherlands. The venue was officially recognised in 2021 as Real Rotterdam Heritage (Echt Rotterdams Erfgoed) for its role in the city.

How to get there

Baroeg is in Lombardijen, in the south of Rotterdam. If you are travelling by public transport, Rotterdam Lombardijen station is your closest rail link, and the area is easy to reach from Zuid and the city centre via local connections. Coming by bike is straightforward, and the neighbourhood streets around the venue make it a practical ride from nearby districts in Rotterdam-Zuid.
