A State of Trance marks 25 years with 20,000 fans in Rotterdam

ROTTERDAM, 28 February 2026 – A State of Trance has opened its 25th anniversary weekend in Rotterdam with 20,000 fans filling the venue on Friday night. The milestone edition kicked off with a line-up designed to reflect both the legacy and the future of trance.

The opening night featured sets from Armin van Buuren, Ruben de Ronde, Ferry Corsten, SUPERSTRINGS, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Mauro Picotto, Will Atkinson and Matty Ralph, alongside an Armin van Buuren F2F Funk Tribu performance.

A five-hour Armin set and an Ibiza announcement

Armin van Buuren’s five-hour headline set was positioned as the emotional core of the opening night, built as a journey through 25 years of the A State of Trance sound. During the set, he announced a return to Ibiza this summer with a new A State of Trance residency at UNVRS, including five extended five-hour sets across the residency.

A Rotterdam flagship with more to come

“Celebrating 25 years of A State of Trance together with fans from all over the world is beyond anything I could have imagined when we started this journey. Seeing multiple generations unite on the dance floor, honoring the roots of trance while embracing what’s next, makes me incredibly proud. And announcing our ASOT residency at UNVRS Ibiza during this milestone weekend made it even more special.”

The organisers describe A State of Trance as a project that began as a radio show and grew into a global event brand, with its flagship Rotterdam edition framed as the centrepiece of the calendar. Pre-registration for A State of Trance 2027 is now open, and tickets for the UNVRS Ibiza residency are on sale via the venue’s official channels.
