PAARDENRAVE turns Luxor into a club night

HAPPENING 11 JUL 2026 | PAARDENRAVE x Luxor will turn the main hall of the Nieuwe Luxor Theater into a one-night club space on Saturday 11 July 2026. The event takes place before the theatre’s old seats are removed after 25 years and replaced with new ones.

For one night, the usual theatre set-up disappears. No red plush rows, no fixed seating, no quiet shuffle to your numbered chair. Instead, Luxor is making room for a large dance floor inside one of Rotterdam’s most recognisable theatre halls.

Theatre seats make way

The event runs from Saturday 11 July into Sunday 12 July 2026 and is described as the first and only club night of its kind at Luxor. The timing is part of what makes it possible: the old seats are being taken out before the new seating is installed.

That gives the theatre a short window to use the hall in a way it normally cannot. Rather than staging another seated performance, Luxor is working with Rotterdam club and performance concept PAARDENRAVE to transform the room into a theatrical club experience.

The idea is deliberately over the top. The red theatre hall will temporarily make way for a horse-stable-inspired setting, with hay bales, carrots, sugar cubes and surprises around the space. Expect performances, theatrical costumes, circus acts, dancers and a club line-up designed to carry the night well past normal theatre energy.

PAARDENRAVE enters Luxor

PAARDENRAVE is leaning fully into the absurdity of the setting. The organisers describe the night as “My Little Pony meets Berghain”, which is probably about as accurate as Rotterdam nightlife gets when you put a rave inside a theatre that is temporarily missing its chairs.

The line-up includes APOLLO18, ANSJOWVIS, COLD ASS ICE, KAHORSA, KIM SWIM, MOODY MEHRAN and PANTEROS666, with one more name still listed as a mystery act.

For Rotterdam, the setting is the real hook. Nieuwe Luxor is usually associated with musicals, theatre, comedy, dance and large productions. A rave in an emptied-out theatre hall gives the building a short second life before the new seats go in.

One night only

The event is being presented as a one-off chance to dance inside the empty theatre hall. Once the new seats are installed, the room returns to its usual purpose.

How to get there

PAARDENRAVE x Luxor takes place at the Nieuwe Luxor Theater on the Kop van Zuid, right next to Wilhelminaplein metro station. The venue is easy to reach by metro, tram, bike or on foot from Erasmusbrug and the surrounding Kop van Zuid area.
