Festival Downtown takes place on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 September 2026. Its familiar city-centre format combines accessible daytime programming with ticketed club events later in the evening and at night.
Festival Downtown returns to Rotterdam in September
Festival Downtown has been part of Rotterdam's alternative music landscape for more than a decade, building its programme around progressive music, emerging artists and the city's own scenes.
The 2026 festival is set to spread across 12 locations in central Rotterdam. Eendrachtsplein remains an important part of the event, with venues and temporary festival spaces around the city centre hosting their own programmes.

Festival Downtown 2026 line-up
The 2026 line-up is being revealed in stages, so the complete artist bill is not yet available. At Rotown, Radio Tornado will host a Saturday night programme led by Brazilian project Lambada da Serpente, whose music combines Latin American rhythms, cumbia, lambada, Amazonian influences and psychedelic pop. Rotown says additional artists are still to be announced.
WORM will host Festival Downtown on both nights. On Friday 11 September, its programme includes FUGAZII in the main room and a Peanut Butter Jelly programme in the basement. On Saturday 12 September, RDBLCK takes over the main room, with further programme details still to come. Festival Downtown has also announced Habibis World at Club Uniek, with names including Chamos and Zouflebouf promoted so far. Other announcements include Lady Shaka for the Peanut Butter Jelly stage.

Festival Downtown 2026 locations
Festival Downtown says its 2026 programme will take place across 12 locations in Rotterdam. Confirmed venues include WORM, Rotown and Club Uniek, while Eendrachtsplein again serves as an important focal point for the wider festival area. More venue-specific programming is being announced as September approaches.
WORM is at Boomgaardsstraat 71, close to Witte de Withstraat and Eendrachtsplein. Rotown is at Nieuwe Binnenweg 19.
Festival Downtown 2026 times
Opening and closing times vary by venue. Uitagenda Rotterdam currently lists the Eendrachtsplein programme from 17:00 to 23:30 on Friday 11 September and from 15:00 to 23:30 on Saturday 12 September. WORM lists Festival Downtown programming from 17:00 until 04:30 on both Friday and Saturday. Rotown's Radio Tornado programme on Saturday 12 September starts at 21:00.

Festival Downtown traditionally combines free daytime programming with paid evening and night events. Tickets for the paid parts of the 2026 festival are already on sale through De Nieuwe Lichting. How to get to Festival Downtown
Festival Downtown takes place across central Rotterdam, with many of its locations concentrated around Eendrachtsplein, Boomgaardsstraat and the Nieuwe Binnenweg area. Eendrachtsplein is served by metro and tram services and is within walking distance of Rotterdam Centraal. Because the festival uses several nearby locations, walking or cycling between venues is generally practical. Always check the location shown on your individual ticket or programme listing before setting off, as Festival Downtown does not take place at one single entrance or venue.
