ROTTERDAM, 4 May 2026 – Lidl opens its new supermarket on Teldersweg in Rotterdam on Wednesday 6 May at 09:00. After two years of construction, the store will welcome customers with a new Lidl layout, fresh food sections, Scan & Go and opening-day extras.
The supermarket is located at Teldersweg 96 and follows Lidl’s latest store formula. That means more space for fresh products, a bakery section and a mix of regular and self-scan checkouts.
New Lidl store opens
The new Lidl Rotterdam Teldersweg opens on Wednesday 6 May at 09:00. Customers can visit the store for daily groceries, including fresh bread, vegetables, fruit, meat, cheese, tapas and other everyday products. One of the main features is the Warme Bakker section, where customers can slice fresh rustic loaves themselves using the bread slicing machine. The store also has a Vers & Ambachtelijk display with meat products, cheeses, tapas and snacks.
The new supermarket includes Scan & Go, allowing customers to scan their groceries with a smartphone and pay directly at the self-checkout. The store has 2 regular checkouts and 9 self-scan checkouts. That should make quick shopping easier, especially during busy moments when the usual supermarket queue ballet begins. Opening promotion on Wednesday
To mark the opening, visitors can collect a free raffle ticket at the entrance of Lidl Rotterdam Teldersweg on Wednesday 6 May between 08:30 and 08:50. The prize is one minute of free shopping. The general terms and conditions for the action are available at www.lidl.nl/winacties. The store opens to customers at 09:00.
Moreover, the first 100 customers who shop with the Lidl Plus app will receive a free flower. All Lidl Plus customers will also receive a free big shopper on Wednesday 6 May after scanning their digital customer card. The offer applies on opening day at the new Teldersweg branch.
Fresh food focus
Lidl says the store is designed with a strong focus on fresh products. The supermarket chain points to its recent YouGov results, where Lidl was named the best national supermarket for fruit and vegetables for the 12th time, and also recognised again for bread. This year, Lidl also received recognition for meat. According to the chain, it is the first time a supermarket has reached the number one position in all three categories.
Lidl also claims it wants to make healthy shopping more affordable and accessible. The chain says it has structurally lowered prices for fibre-rich and plant-based basic products so they match comparable animal-based or non-fibre-rich alternatives. Its meal salads now include wholegrain cereals by default. Lidl also stopped selling tobacco in 2021, as part of its contribution to a smoke-free generation.
