ROTTERDAM, 6 November 2026 | Rotterdam burger restaurant Ter Marsch & Co is taking over its next-door neighbour on Witte de Withstraat. The adjoining premises, previously occupied by Frietboutique, will become part of the restaurant, doubling its seating capacity from 60 to 120. A larger heated terrace, an expanded food and drinks menu and more space for groups are also planned, with the renovation expected to be completed in March 2027.

The restaurant will remain open throughout the work, allowing guests to continue visiting while the two properties are gradually connected.
From 60 seats to 120
Ter Marsch & Co has been part of Witte de Withstraat since 2014, when it opened its original burger restaurant in the heart of Rotterdam's cultural and nightlife district.
Over the years, the restaurant has built a reputation for inventive burgers and fries, winning several national and international awards. Its expansion into the neighbouring Frietboutique premises marks a new chapter for the business.
According to founder and co-owner Pim de Lange, the opportunity to acquire the neighbouring space was simply too good to miss. The additional room will allow the restaurant to accommodate more guests while developing a broader dining and drinks offering.
More than award-winning burgers
The burgers that made Ter Marsch & Co famous will remain central to the menu, but the owners want to give visitors more reasons to stay beyond a quick lunch or dinner.
Plans include an expanded lunch selection, more dishes designed for sharing and a greater emphasis on drinks and casual gatherings.
The changes are intended to make the restaurant suitable for different occasions, from a burger with friends to a longer evening of drinks and small dishes.
Co-owner Olaf Oldenburg has emphasised that the restaurant's identity will remain recognisable, with its signature burgers continuing to play the leading role.

A heated terrace and room for larger groups
One of the most visible changes will be outside. Ter Marsch & Co is planning a redesigned terrace with heating, new parasols, awnings and a combination of high and low seating.
The aim is to make the outdoor area more comfortable throughout the year, including during the colder months when sitting outside on Witte de Withstraat can be considerably less appealing.
Inside, the additional space will also make it easier to accommodate birthdays, group dinners and other gatherings. The owners expect to welcome groups of up to 50 people without having to close the regular restaurant to other visitors.
That represents a considerable change for a venue where limited space has previously made larger reservations difficult.

A new generation joins the ownership team
The expansion also brings a change behind the scenes. Christiaan Boom, who has worked at Ter Marsch & Co for five years, is becoming a co-owner alongside Pim de Lange and Olaf Oldenburg.
Boom will help shape the restaurant's next phase, including the redesigned terrace and the broader hospitality concept.
The development comes as Witte de Withstraat continues to attract a mixture of independent restaurants, bars, galleries and international visitors. For Ter Marsch & Co, the intention is to grow without losing the informal atmosphere that helped establish its reputation.

Renovation expected to finish in March 2027
The work will take place in several stages, with the terrace scheduled to be renewed before Christmas 2026.
During January and February 2027, the two adjoining buildings will be connected and the interior redesigned to accommodate the additional seating and new layout.
The owners expect the complete renovation and expanded concept to be ready by March 2027.
Importantly, Ter Marsch & Co plans to remain open throughout the renovation, although visitors may notice changes as work progresses.
Visiting Ter Marsch & Co Rotterdam
Ter Marsch & Co is located at Witte de Withstraat 70, in central Rotterdam, within walking distance of Museumpark and the city's main shopping district.

Metro stations Eendrachtsplein and Beurs are both within walking distance. Those arriving by car can use nearby parking facilities, including the Westblaak parking garage.
With twice the seating, a renewed terrace and a broader menu on the way, the expansion gives Ter Marsch & Co considerably more room to develop its place on one of Rotterdam's best-known restaurant streets.
