ROTTERDAM, 22 September 2026 – A new Rotterdam gift card (Rotterdam Cadeaukaart) is now available to spend at more than 80 independent shops, cafés and restaurants across the city. Created by Stadsie, the card is designed to keep more gift spending within Rotterdam while giving recipients the freedom to divide their balance between different participating businesses.

The current participant list includes businesses such as Emma’s Bookshop on Zwaanshals, NOTK Rotterdam on Delistraat, Hopper Coffee & Bakery on Schiedamse Vest, Zigt Sieraden on Nieuwe Binnenweg, Ver van Hier on Kleiweg and Club Café & Luncheonette in historic Delfshaven. The list is continuing to grow.
“You’re not giving one specific shop or restaurant, but essentially a piece of Rotterdam,” says Stadsie community manager Fenne van der Flier. “The recipient has complete freedom to decide where to spend the balance, while as the giver you know the money ultimately reaches local businesses in the city.”

How the Rotterdam Cadeaukaart works
Cards can be loaded with a value between €10 and €150. You do not have to spend the entire amount at once or at the same business, so a €50 card could, for example, cover coffee at one location and a purchase at another.
Stadsie’s current terms say the Rotterdam Cadeaukaart is valid for two years from the date of purchase. If your purchase costs more than the remaining balance, you can pay the difference using another payment method accepted by the business. Multiple Stadsie gift cards can also be combined during one purchase.
One practical limitation is worth knowing: the card is currently intended for physical participating locations, rather than online purchases. The Rotterdam version can also only be spent at businesses participating in the Rotterdam scheme.

Businesses receive the full balance
Stadsie says participating Rotterdam businesses do not pay commission, subscription fees or joining costs. When €20 of a card is spent in a shop or café, that business receives the full €20.
Instead, the buyer pays an additional €1 impact contribution per gift card. A card containing €50 in spending credit therefore costs €51, with the contribution funding the system rather than being deducted from the merchant’s payment.
The concept also targets Rotterdam employers and organisations with staff or client gift budgets. Stadsie was set up around the idea that some of the money currently spent on nationwide gift cards and conventional corporate gifts could instead circulate through independent local businesses.

Rotterdam is Stadsie’s seventh city
Rotterdam is the seventh city where Stadsie has introduced a local city gift card. The company was already active in Breda, Tilburg, Eindhoven, Den Bosch, Dordrecht and Roosendaal and is expanding its city-card network further across the Netherlands.
Since launching, Stadsie says more than 100,000 gift cards have been sold across its network, resulting in over €3.5 million spent at independent shops and hospitality businesses.
The Rotterdam Cadeaukaart is available via Stadsie’s Rotterdam page. An up-to-date list of the businesses accepting it is maintained separately, which is useful because new locations are still being added.
