R&B and Soul icon Raphael Saadiq returns to the Netherlands for the first time since his performance at North Sea Jazz in 2011. The soul singer will perform in Theater Rotterdam, Schouwburg.
The multi-talented Raphael Saadiq
Raphael Saadiq, born Charlie Ray Wiggins, is an artist who can do everything. At a young age, he performed as bass player for Prince during the 'Parade Tour'. He then founded the rhythm & blues formation Tony! Toni! Tone! with which Saadiq scored big hits as lead singer. At its peak, Saadiq left the trio to focus on his solo career. His solo debut 'Instant Vintage' (2002) was nominated for five Grammys.
Producer for the stars
In addition to his solo career, Saadiq is also responsible for many great successes within contemporary R & B. He produced for greats like D'Angelo (his Grammy-winning album 'Untitled'), The Roots, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Erykah Badu. Raphael Saadiq also made his mark with the supergroup Lucy Pearl through hits such as 'Do not mess with my man' and 'Dance tonight'.
