HAPPENING 27 NOV '26 | Rotterdam's Nieuwe Binnenweg is swapping Black Friday bargain hunting for vintage shopping on Friday 27 November 2026. Vintage Friday brings around 40 market stalls to the shopping street, followed by a talk, an auction and a party. Around the corner, the West = Best Club is joining in with a one-day pop-up selling vintage homeware, retro football shirts and photography.
ROTTERDAM, 2 November 2026 - Black Friday usually means discounts, crowded shops and an abundance of new products. But on Nieuwe Binnenweg, local entrepreneurs are taking a different approach this November, encouraging visitors to explore second-hand goods, independent businesses and neighbourhood culture.
Vintage Friday takes place between Eendrachtsplein and Mathenesserlaan, with a programme extending from the shopping street to several nearby cultural venues.
A vintage market along Nieuwe Binnenweg
The main market runs from 12:00 to 18:00, with approximately 40 stalls spread along Nieuwe Binnenweg.
According to Uitagenda Rotterdam, the selection will include vintage clothing, second-hand goods, independently made products and food. The event is being organised in collaboration with people involved in Vintage aan de Maas, another recurring Rotterdam market.
Shops along the street will also participate through vintage displays and other activities, giving visitors an opportunity to explore the existing businesses alongside the temporary market stalls.
The event is positioned as an alternative to the shopping habits associated with Black Friday. Rather than concentrating

West = Best Club opens a one-day vintage pop-up
Just around the corner, at Schietbaanstraat 45B, West = Best Club is joining Vintage Friday with a temporary shop organised by Christian Igesz, who is also involved in the Waluw Vintage & Design Market.
The pop-up will feature retro football shirts from a young entrepreneur named Stijn, pre-loved items selected by Elsbeth, and a collection of vintage vases and tableware.
Photographic work by gardener and photographer G. Haasbroek will also be available to purchase.
The organisers are planning music and refreshments throughout the day. Visitors will also have access to the neighbouring Tuin de Bajonet, a community garden tucked between the buildings of the Oude Westen neighbourhood.
The West = Best Club pop-up opens at 11:00 on Friday 27 November, ahead of the main street market.
What is West = Best Club?
West = Best Club may be unfamiliar to visitors who usually stick to the shops on Nieuwe Binnenweg. The small cultural and community space opened at Schietbaanstraat 45B in November 2025.
It was founded by Babs Assink and Mieke van der Linden, the people behind Radio Rimboe, a Rotterdam neighbourhood podcast initiative that began at a local pet shop on West-Kruiskade.
The club now provides space for podcast production, exhibitions and neighbourhood activities. One of its programmes is Club Analoog, a gathering where visitors can spend time together without the constant distractions of their phones.
In July 2026, OPEN Rotterdam reported on how the club was using nearby Tuin de Bajonet as an informal meeting place, inviting residents to enjoy the garden, play games and meet their neighbours.
The Vintage Friday pop-up fits into that wider programme of small-scale cultural activities in the Oude Westen.

A talk, auction and party complete the evening
Vintage Friday continues after the street market closes.
At 18:00, philosopher and Rotterdam city thinker Henk Oosterling is scheduled to speak at the Paradijskerk on Nieuwe Binnenweg 25. His talk will examine consumerism and the importance of shopping streets in urban life.
From 19:30, Leeszaal Rotterdam West hosts a vintage auction led by Lotte van Eijk. Products and second-hand items supplied by local businesses will be auctioned, with proceeds intended to support youth education.
The evening ends with a party at the Leeszaal from 20:30 to 22:00. DJ Zimmerman of Demonfuzz will provide the music among the bookshelves.
Together, the programme turns Vintage Friday into more than a shopping event, with activities exploring consumption, creativity and community life in the city centre.
