ROTTERDAM, 6 January 2026 – Rotterdam-based soul artist Carina Fernandes will release her new single “Sometimes Life Just Life’s” on 15 January. The song has been described as gentle, feel-good soul for the days that do not feel great, with a clear nod to mental health.
The track takes its cue from the phrase “life is life-ing”, making space for the in-between moments, when you are functioning but not exactly thriving. It is meant to offer comfort without pretending everything is fine, and without insisting every feeling needs a fix.
When does “Sometimes Life Just Life’s” release in Rotterdam?
Carina Fernandes is releasing “Sometimes Life Just Life’s” on 15 January, timed in the run-up to Blue Monday. The press release describes it as warm soul music that fits low-energy days, when you still want something uplifting but without pressure.
Musically, the single is described as mellow and warm, with a “lazy Sunday” feel. It was recorded at Dean Street Studios in London during Fernandes’ first self-organised summer tour, a two-week run across four countries with seven shows, where she travelled, performed, and learned while pushing herself hard.

How Rotterdam city centre shapes the mental health message in the new single
The heart of this release is simple: sometimes you feel flat, and that is still part of being human. Fernandes frames the single as a moment of recognition and relief, a reminder that everyone dips sometimes, and that getting through the day can be enough.
She also reflects on what it takes to keep going as an independent artist, including the practical reality of touring, organising logistics, and stretching yourself beyond what feels comfortable.
Carina & The Jetsetters played Rotterdam’s de Doelen before touring abroad
Fernandes founded Carina & The Jetsetters in 2024. The project played two shows at de Doelen in Rotterdam, then went on to tour through Scotland, England, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Her sound is described as a blend of soul, funk, and spoken word with a Caribbean touch.
