Description

Lydia Stavraki and Ysa Bermejo perform in the HBS Garden during a free edition of the Playgrounds Sessions. The summer series combines live music with food and drinks in the garden at Lab Grounds.

Lydia Stavraki brings together Latin American music, jazz and Greek influences. Working with pianist Anita Fiszman, she places her heritage alongside Cuban and Brazilian traditions through original compositions and newly arranged material. The result is a layered sound shaped by several musical cultures.

Spanish artist Ysa Bermejo has built a growing profile in Rotterdam with her charismatic stage presence and blend of Spanish and Latin American influences. Her music centres on connection, an idea that also runs through her debut album Gabriela.

Lab Grounds is Podium Grounds’ intimate second stage in the former HBS school building on ’s-Gravendijkwal in Rotterdam’s Oude Westen, a flexible room where the Grounds team programmes adventurous gigs, club nights, workshops and community events; it complements the main Grounds hall on Pieter de Hoochweg and doubles as a creative third space and café that supports emerging artists and neighbourhood projects.
