ROTTERDAM, 27 May 2025 – Families dining at De Beren in Rotterdam Alexandrium can expect a budget-friendly treat. A temporary children's meal deal has now returned as a weekend fixture.
Children eat free at De Beren Alexandrium on weekends
An initiative launched during the May holiday period at De Beren Rotterdam Alexandrium has been extended, allowing children to eat for free every weekend until 20 July 2025. The restaurant will continue offering one complimentary children’s meal (kindermenu) with each adult main course ordered, specifically on Saturdays and Sundays.
The initiative, which originally took place during the May school holidays, proved popular with families. Due to positive responses, the offer has now been made a regular part of the weekend schedule at the restaurant.
Restaurant owner Rebecca Kats explained the decision: “We received such lovely reactions during the May break—families who really enjoyed themselves. We thought: this needs to continue. When children are having a good time, parents usually are too.”
Family-friendly dining in Rotterdam Alexandrium
The offer provides an accessible option for families spending time at Alexandrium Shopping Center. It caters to those stopping for lunch while shopping or planning a casual dinner together. In addition to the complimentary children’s dish, young diners will also be welcomed with a small surprise during their visit.
“There is also a large play structure that many people don’t know about,” said Kats. “It gives children a space to have fun while parents enjoy a more relaxed meal.”
Midweek offer linked to Alexandrium’s Kidsclub
Beyond the weekend promotion, an additional benefit is available to children participating in the shopping centre’s Wednesday Kidsclub. Young attendees receive a flyer that entitles them to the same free meal offer on Wednesdays. The promotion is designed to encourage weekday visits and make family outings more enjoyable.

De Beren Rotterdam Alexandrium is located within the Alexandrium Shopping Center, a well-known retail hub in Rotterdam's east. The restaurant can be found near the main food court area and is easily accessible via public transport, with Rotterdam Alexander station a short walk away. Parking is also available on site.
