HAPPENING 15 JUL–19 AUG 2026 | Wednesday Night Skate returns this summer with six free evening rides through Rotterdam-West and Rotterdam-Zuid. From 15 July to 19 August, skaters, roller-skaters and skateboarders can join a moving street party filled with music, lights and some rather lovely Rotterdam views.
Rotterdam becomes Rollerdam again
On six Wednesday evenings, Rotterdam’s streets will make way for a large procession on wheels. The rides run from 19:00 to 21:30 and are free to join, with music trucks travelling alongside the participants throughout the route.
Rollerdam is organised by the Municipality of Rotterdam and Stichting Skateland Rotterdam. Thousands of people are expected to take part, turning an ordinary summer evening into one of the city’s biggest moving parties.
Two routes across the city
The first three editions, on 15, 22 and 29 July, start and finish at Museumpark near Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen. The route travels through Rotterdam-West, passing Little C before taking a break near Sparta Rotterdam’s stadium, Het Kasteel.
The final three rides, on 5, 12 and 19 August, introduce a route through Rotterdam-Zuid. These editions start and finish at Skateland Rotterdam, with Deliplein on Katendrecht serving as the break location. Along the way, the group will roll past sights including Hotel New York, the Erasmus Bridge and Noordereiland, giving you a skyline tour with slightly more speed than the average sightseeing walk.

Who can join
You can participate on roller skates, inline skates, a skateboard, a non-motorised scooter or in a wheelchair. Bicycles and most electric or motorised vehicles are not permitted because of safety considerations within the moving procession.
You should be comfortable controlling your speed, steering through a large group and performing an emergency stop. Participation is at your own risk, and the organisers strongly recommend wearing a helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads and knee pads. Instructions from the organisation, traffic controllers and police must always be followed.
Practical information
Roller skates can be rented at each edition for €10. Protective equipment costs €1 per item. Payment is by debit card only, and you must bring valid identification to use as a deposit. Arrive early when renting equipment, as sizes and styles are subject to availability.
The organisation recommends checking the official Wednesday Night Skate website and the Rollerdam Instagram account before leaving home. Route information, timings and possible changes will be shared through these channels. Wednesday 26 August is a reserve date and is not currently scheduled as a regular edition.
