Stooges’ Funhouse opens on Goudsesingel in Rotterdam on 31 January

ROTTERDAM, 26 January 2026 – Stooges’ Funhouse opens a second location on Saturday 31 January in Het Industriegebouw, bringing its smashburgers to the Goudsesingel. You can expect a menu that runs from lunch into late drinks, with burgers, deli sandwiches, bar snacks, natural wines and cocktails.

Stooges’ built its name at Station Bergweg, where its smashburgers quickly drew a loyal crowd. Now founders Kick Vogel and Jip Boon are taking the next step with a new spot in an industrial space on the ground floor of Het Industriegebouw. The new venue is positioned as a place where you can drop in for a drink at the bar, or book a table with friends and stay all evening. The menu keeps burgers as the main anchor, with deli sandwiches and bar snacks alongside. Drinks include natural wines and cocktails, and the team says weekends will feature DJs.

“This is exactly where we wanted to go,” says Kick. “Just doing what we think is cool, but in a place we can build ourselves from the ground up. We have full confidence that we’re going to rock it here.”

From Station Bergweg to Stooges’ 2.0

Stooges’ started at Station Bergweg, where burgers “flew out of the kitchen” and quickly developed a following. The smashburgers and rotating specials pulled in people who deliberately made the trip to the Bergweg. “It was really cool to see people come to Stooges’ on purpose,” says Jip. “That just gives a thrill.” They later also took over the kitchen at De Maaskantine during the summer, which helped confirm, in their words, that they were ready to expand. “When we could run the kitchen at De Maaskantine as well, we knew we were ready for more,” says Jip. “This place will be Stooges’ 2.0,” says Kick. “Here we can show how broad our idea really is.”

Smashburgers, sandwiches and bar snacks

The team describes Stooges’ Funhouse as a hybrid between a pub and a restaurant, aiming to work for a quick drink as well as a full night out. Burgers remain central, with extra space for deli sandwiches and snacks that suit the bar. “I call it a perfect mix between a pub and a restaurant,” says Kick. “you can walk in for drinks at the bar, but you can just as easily book with friends and stay seated all evening. nothing is too crazy for us; a playground funhouse, but in the Stooges’ way.”

Their food philosophy is still meant to feel familiar and indulgent.

“It should feel like when you were eight and went to McDonald’s,” laughs Jip. “something you know you probably shouldn’t do, but that makes you so happy you almost bounce with joy.”

Inside the new Funhouse look

The interior is designed to shift between daytime and nighttime, with grey as the base, red accents, dark wood, and neon lighting intended to feel bright during the day and more atmospheric in the evening. “It’ll be a step more chic,” adds Jip. “But always with the same Stooges’ fun.”

Het Industriegebouw joins the story

Het Industriegebouw is a national monument on the Goudsesingel that has grown into a place where businesses, makers and hospitality concepts sit side by side. The arrival of Stooges’ is positioned as part of an active ground floor where the public and the building’s community meet.

“We think it’s fantastic that Stooges’ is settling here,” say Eva Sharo and Desiree van den Wittenboer, directors of Het Industriegebouw. “It’s a concept with energy, creativity and a large fan base. Exactly the kind of dynamic we love, and a perfect addition to our current hospitality offering.”

How to get there

You’ll find Stooges’ Funhouse inside Het Industriegebouw on the Goudsesingel, right at the edge of the city centre. From Rotterdam Blaak, it’s an easy walk towards the Goudsesingel, and you’re also close to tram routes that run through the area. If you’re coming by bike, you’ll be in familiar territory: busy streets, plenty of city life, and a steady flow of people heading between the centre and Kralingen.
