Mama’s Koelkast joins Café Dox with a menu of world comfort food, from couscous and nasi goreng to baklava, briwats and jerk chicken.

Global family recipes on the menu at Café Dox Rotterdam

ROTTERDAM, 8 September 2025 – Starting on 10 September, Café Dox introduces a new culinary partner: Mama’s Koelkast. Visitors can now enjoy a menu inspired by homemade dishes from around the world.

A taste of global home kitchens

Mama’s Koelkast is known in Rotterdam for its world comfort food, based on family recipes passed down through generations. The collaboration with Café Dox brings this approach into the heart of Rotterdam, serving dishes that celebrate diversity, hospitality and the familiar warmth of home cooking.

Lunch and bites

For lunch, the menu ranges from a couscous bowl with vegetables, caramelised onions and raisins, to Mama Sandra’s vegetable quiche, and a rotorol with masala potatoes served with hot sauce and pickles. Other options include the Turkish pide with minced meat, paprika and cheese, and the daily soup served with bread.

Those stopping by for a drink or a light snack can order from the bites menu. Choices include a mezze platter with hummus, baba ganoush, falafel and olives, mini samosas, falafel balls with yoghurt-tahini sauce, or Moroccan briwats filled with pumpkin, sweet potato or chicken. Fish lovers can try the Bahamian fishcakes with lime mayonnaise, while groups may opt for the Bites to Share platter.

Dinner options

In the evening, Mama’s Koelkast offers heartier dishes. Highlights include rice and beans with jerk chicken or tofu and spicy coleslaw, Indonesian nasi goreng with chicken satay, and couscous with vegetables or oven-baked chicken. Pasta fans can choose a house-made bolognese or a vegetarian option, while the menu also features lasagne, beef burgers with BBQ sauce, and a pumpkin burger with miso, caramelised onion and sriracha mayonnaise. A rotating Mama’s Special completes the line-up.

Sweets

Desserts follow the same philosophy: comforting, homemade, and globally inspired. The selection includes baklava with pistachio, Moroccan almond cookies, Portuguese pastel de nata, kokosmakroon in various flavours, speculaas boterkoek, and arretjescake with chocolate and biscuits. For those who like variety, the Tea Time platter offers a mix of Mama’s sweet favourites to share.
