Inspiring role models to be honoured at the very first Cocktail Awards show during Rotterdam Pride week. The event takes place at Cocktail Fest in Maassilo.
Rotterdam Pride kicks off on September 27th. What does this mean? Four days of inclusiveness and diversity with lots of activities and parties from the 27th through the 30th of September 2018. The highlight of Rotterdam Pride 2018 is the presentation of the first-ever Cocktail Awards on Saturday, 29th of September in the Maassilo.
With the launch of the awards, the initiators want to reflect on special people who inspire others to be themselves. The 33 selected candidates are all examples and inspirations for the LGBTI community. A vote can be cast on candidates in four categories; the most beautiful drag, most influential influencer, biggest hotspot and best DJ. The winners will be announced during Cocktail Fest - the main party of Rotterdam Pride - with locally well-known invited guests and performers such as Gerard Joling, Gordon, Fred van Leer and Everon Jackson Hooi.

"Sometimes it is hard work to be yourself. It helps if there are role models who show that you can be who you are and love who you want" says organiser Robin Pors (Vengaboys). "But we often do not think about it or simply think it's normal that these people do this. That's why we want to roll out the pink carpet.
Among the 33 inspirational LGBTI nominees for The Cocktail Awards, 2018 are Karin Bloemen, Jan-Kees de Jager, Diva MayDay and Lady Galore. The awards are a collaboration between Cocktail Fest, OUTtv and Attitude Magazine. You can vote until September 24 via outtvpro.com/cocktail.
Blooming LGBTI culture in Rotterdam
The success of Rotterdam goes hand in hand with the resurgence of Rotterdam's famous LGBTI culture. The return of several well-known LGBTI events, the increasingly crowded street parties during Rotterdam Pride and the third edition of Cocktail Fest, show that the city is once again becoming an attractive LGBTI destination.
Cocktail Fest is known for its seamless amalgamation of various target groups and party scenes in the free-minded community. With 5 areas in the Maassilo, the festival has something for everyone. Visitors can go for pop, R&B, techno, deep-house and circuit-house. The motto of the festival is 'Be yourself, Experience everyone', and with an all-encompassing dress code, people are encouraged to dress whichever way they want. Previous editions of Cocktail Fest have attracted thousands of visitors from all over Europe.
