ROTTERDAM, 13 March 2026 – Typical Tropical has mapped out April 2026 with a familiar mix of socials, classes and midweek dancing across the city. The month includes LatinXpress at Podium Grounds on 4 April, the start of new Salsa and Bachata courses from 13 April, and a free edition of Latin Café Dox at the Nieuwe Luxor Theater on 15 April.
If you dance in Rotterdam, this is one of those months where your agenda can fill up quickly. Typical Tropical’s April programme stretches from late-night socials to structured weekly classes, giving both regular dancers and newer faces a few clear moments to step in.
The line-up also shows how the Rotterdam Latin scene continues to spread across different venues, from the Schiekade studios to Podium Grounds in Delfshaven and Café Dox by the Rijnhaven.
LatinXpress returns to Grounds
The first big date is Saturday 4 April, when LatinXpress takes over Podium Grounds with separate Salsa and Bachata rooms. The event runs from 22:00 to 03:30 and keeps the format many dancers in Rotterdam already know, with multiple DJs, food, photography and a late-night social crowd.
In the Salsa room, the line-up features DJ Mo and DJ Charlie. The Bachata room will be led by DJ Pequeno El Loco and DJ Rachella. Catering will be provided by Huize Wekker, while RH Fotografie will be on hand for photos.
Presale tickets are available in several price rounds at €10, €12.50, €15 and €18.50 via https://typicaltropical.nl/jd0t. Door tickets cost €17.50 in cash or €18.50 by card.
The event takes place at Grounds, Pieter de Hoochweg 125, Rotterdam. Drinks can be paid by cash or card, the cloakroom costs €1 per item and toilets are free. Parking is free after 23:00.
Grounds, Pieter de Hoochweg 125, Rotterdam sits in the west of the city near Delfshaven. If you are travelling by public transport, Delfshaven metro station is one of the most practical nearby stops, with tram and bus connections also serving the area.

Salsa and Bachata courses start mid-April
Typical Tropical’s new round of 10-week and 5-week Salsa and Bachata courses starts between Monday 13 April and Sunday 19 April, with the full course period running through to 21 June 2026. Classes cover Salsa as well as Bachata Dominican, Fusion and Sensual. The courses will be held at Typical Tropical Studios, Schiekade 830, Rotterdam. Students can choose between 10 lessons of 1 hour or 5 lessons of 2 hours.
According to Typical Tropical, the new course block focuses on experienced teachers, clear explanations, personal attention and a friendly studio atmosphere. The classes are built around varied combinations, enjoyable music and room for both fun and expression.
Dancers can join with rotating partners or sign up with a fixed partner. Typical Tropical also points to the wider social side of the courses, with studio community, socials and parties forming part of the experience around the lessons. Registration is open via https://typicaltropical.nl/inschrijven.
Typical Tropical Studios, Schiekade 830, Rotterdam is close to the northern side of the centre, making it reachable from Rotterdam Centraal by bike, tram or a short urban ride. If you already know the Schiekade stretch, you will know it is one of those practical locations that stays well connected to the rest of the city.

Free Latin Café Dox on 15 April
The third key date in the programme is Wednesday 15 April, when Typical Tropical teams up again with the Nieuwe Luxor Theater for a free edition of Latin Café Dox. The evening takes place at Café Dox, Antoine Platekade 9, Rotterdam, from 20:30 to 00:30.
Music will be handled by DJ Virgil, with a mix of Salsa, Bachata and occasional Merengue or Kizomba. Entry is free, which makes this one of the easier midweek dance options in Rotterdam if you want a social night without committing to a full ticketed event.
Café Dox, Antoine Platekade 9, Rotterdam is right by the Rijnhaven and within the wider Kop van Zuid area. From the city centre, metro connections towards Wilhelminaplein make this one easy to reach, followed by a short walk along the water.

A busy month for Rotterdam dancers
Taken together, the April programme gives you three very different ways to join in. LatinXpress is the larger Saturday night out, the new course cycle is there for dancers who want structure and progress, and Café Dox keeps the midweek social side of the scene moving.
For Rotterdam’s Latin community, that mix is part of what keeps Typical Tropical visible. It is not just about classes or parties on their own, but about how the two continue feeding into each other throughout the month.
