ROTTERDAM, 16 July 2024 – Duke of Tokyo's new terrace on the Hofplein is now open, offering karaoke, cocktails, and Japanese cuisine in the heart of Rotterdam. The new space provides an opportunity for visitors to enjoy drinks and a revised bar menu throughout the summer.
Duke of Tokyo opens new terrace on Hofplein
The Duke of Tokyo in Rotterdam, inspired by Japanese culture, has opened a terrace on the Hofplein. Visitors can now enjoy cocktails, a new bar menu, and karaoke all year round. The bar menu, designed by the chef of Izakaya DUKI, features a variety of signature cocktails, saké, beer, and non-alcoholic mocktails. Patrons are invited to try the new drinks and spend their evening on the terrace.

The recently opened terrace at Duke of Tokyo is a place for family, friends, or colleagues to gather. Located centrally in Rotterdam, the terrace offers sun throughout the day and features windbreaks and parasols for comfort. The new menu includes a range of cocktails and dishes suitable for sharing.
The cocktail menu includes a variety of flavours, from fruity drinks to stronger options like the Shokunin Old-Fashioned. The menu incorporates both popular and lesser-known Japanese ingredients, such as tare sauce, roasted sesame, white peaches, melon, and yuzu. The drinks are prepared with attention to sustainability, aiming to minimise waste. Whether patrons prefer a low-ABV drink, a robust old-fashioned, or a refreshing Popstar Martini slushy, there are options for different tastes.

The updated food menu at Duke of Tokyo features fish, meat, and vegetarian dishes, offering a modern twist on traditional Japanese recipes. Designed for sharing, the menu includes dishes such as wild spinach with roasted sesame and ponzu dressing, beef tataki, pan-fried chilli shrimps, and mochi ice cream. Duke of Tokyo was established in 2018 by entrepreneurs Has Peter Sengers, Wessel Kruyt, and their British partner Ben Warren, opening the first location in Amsterdam's Reguliersdwarsstraat.
