ROTTERDAM, 26 August 2025 – RET is set to (re)launch a night bus network, offering late-night public transport from the city centre to surrounding areas on weekends. The service is scheduled to begin on 5 September 2025.
RET night bus network to operate on weekends from 5 September
A new night bus network will soon connect Rotterdam's city centre with various districts and nearby municipalities during weekend nights. From 5 September 2025, the RET Nachtbus will operate during the night between Friday and Saturday, and between Saturday and Sunday.
A total of 13 routes have been planned, linking key areas of the city and surrounding regions with central Rotterdam’s nightlife district. The night buses are scheduled to connect with NS night trains within 30 minutes, enhancing accessibility to and from the wider Randstad region.
RET night buses will run from Rotterdam Centraal to 13 destinations on weekend nights starting 5 September 2025, connecting with NS night trains.
Night bus timetable and frequency
The first departures are planned for 00:45, with the final services ending after 06:00. Each bus line will run once per hour. Exceptions include the routes to Hoogvliet and Spijkenisse, which are expected to be more heavily used and will run twice per hour during peak demand periods.

All lines depart from Rotterdam Centraal and serve various destinations across the region:

- N4 – Capelle aan den IJssel
- N5 – Capelle Schollevaar
- N7 – Hoogvliet
- N8 – Spijkenisse
- N9 – Maassluis
- N10 – Berkel Westpolder
- N11 – Barendrecht
- N13 – Overschie
- N16 – Ridderkerk
- N19 – Hoek van Holland

Ticket prices and payment methods
Travellers may check in and out using a bank card, credit card or OV-chipkaart. A single journey costs €6.30.
Alternatively, a barcode ticket is available via the RET app and costs €7.00.
Transferring between night buses
Travellers changing buses on different RET night lines can request a transfer ticket from the driver upon boarding. This transfer ticket costs €0.01 and must be shown to the driver of the connecting bus. It prevents passengers from incurring double charges.
Those using a barcode ticket do not require a transfer ticket.
Adjustment for daylight saving time
The night bus schedule will continue according to summer time on the night that winter time begins. Conversely, on the night that summer time begins, services will operate according to winter time until the final trip.
Directions to Rotterdam Centraal
All night bus services originate from Rotterdam Centraal, located in the heart of the city. The station is accessible via multiple tram, metro and bus lines. It is a short walk from major nightlife areas such as Kruiskade, Witte de Withstraat and West-Kruiskade.
