An Evening With The Blues

An Evening With The Blues returns to LantarenVenster for its 35th edition, bringing three very different sides of the blues together in one night.

American singer Sugar Queen opens the festival with a sound rooted in Chicago blues, gospel, soul and the storytelling traditions of the American South. Her band includes guitarist Jean Raven, keyboard player Raimond de Nijs, bassist Frank Verdier and drummer Ralph Adriaansen.

Next is Earl Thomas, the Tennessee-born singer and songwriter whose work has been recorded by artists including Etta James and Solomon Burke. Thomas previously appeared at An Evening With The Blues in 2018 and now returns to Rotterdam for another set built around his powerful blues and soul vocals.

Closing the night are Kai Strauss & The Electric Blues Allstars. German guitarist and singer Kai Strauss draws inspiration from Albert King, Buddy Guy and the Vaughan Brothers, combining traditional blues with soul, funk and contemporary grooves.
