New hotspot Williams Canteen offers guests all-day concept

New Rotterdam hotspot Williams Canteen opens in Witte de With quarter. Williams Canteen offers guests an all-day concept with cocktails and international cuisine.

Williams Canteen is a brand new all-day concept by Kim Riekwel, Jamil Sancha and his wife Stefanie, - known from Supermercado. The restaurant offers a dinner menu with fine wines as well as breakfast, lunch and drinks. The business changes with the day and the needs of the guests.

Williams Canteen is a refuge

The name refers to the street where Williams Canteen is located and to William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army. This stylish canteen has to become a new refuge for everyone: locals, expats and tourists. The interior is a wink to the 1930s with a raw Rotterdam edge and ensures that every type of guest feels at ease. There are brass details, unfinished walls, walnut panelling, a bar with pink marble top and a record player where you can play vinyl yourself.

"We paid a lot of attention to the interior," says co-owner Kim Riekwel. "The antique fridge comes from the beginning of the last century, the chairs and the reading table are from Vivre Interieur Authentique from Nijmegen and we got the wall cabinet at DASNICE from Antwerp. "We wanted to create something unique and it had to be both accessible and very stylish at the same time.

International cuisine

The kitchen is run by chef Jip Boon of restaurant Thirteen. The menu consists mainly of classic French-Dutch dishes with an international twist. Picture a Dutch cauliflower with a Mexican pumpkin mole or steak tartar with parsnip and a coffee/mushroom mayonnaise.
