ROTTERDAM, 7 November 2025 – Eurobrouwers opens its new venue, Café de Wilde Mossel, on Saturday 15 November at Middellandplein. The new bistro bar blends the cosy charm of a Belgian brown café with the flair of an Italian aperitivo bar and the sociable spirit of a Spanish pinchos bar.
Following a successful crowdfunding campaign supported by local residents, the café will become a permanent home for the Eurobrouwers team after earlier pop-up ventures at Station Bergweg and the Glasfabriek in Schiedam.
A new local favourite in Middelland
Café de Wilde Mossel aims to capture the neighbourhood feel that defines Rotterdam-West, serving house-brewed beers, homemade lemonades and small bistro dishes by Chef Milan Gataric of Restaurant Lux. The weekly changing menu features refined comfort food such as homemade croquettes (filled with pork shoulder, smoked mushrooms or kimchi), brioche with marinated mussels, and hand-cut fries cooked in beef fat.
The café’s warm, vintage aesthetic is complemented by a rare, restored Klipsch Cornwall sound system from 1969, known for its rich, analogue sound. Combined with Eurobrouwers’ signature selection of sour beers and porcelain taps, the bar promises to become a meeting point for beer lovers, foodies and music enthusiasts alike.
From pop-up to permanent
Eurobrouwers’ previous locations were always temporary, from their bar in Station Bergweg to their brewery in Schiedam’s Glasfabriek, which closes later this month. With this new café, the group is planting permanent roots in Rotterdam.
“After several years of moving from place to place, we wanted a lasting space that reflects our community,” says co-founder Kristian de Leeuw of the Double Trouble Group, the hospitality collective behind Café Marseille, Poing Arcade and Bar Alaska. “Café de Wilde Mossel is our ode to timeless European café culture — good beer, good food and good conversation.”
Opening weekend
The café officially opens on Saturday 15 November with a festive evening celebration and outdoor bar from 20:30. From Thursday 13 November, guests can already drop by for lunch, dinner or drinks from 12:00 until late. On Fridays and Saturdays, Café de Wilde Mossel will stay open until 02:00.
