Rotterdam artist Eveline Schram has created the final Show Me Your (He)Art mural on the construction fences at EDGE Coolsingel.

Eveline Schram brings colour to EDGE Coolsingel

ROTTERDAM, 8 July 2026 – Rotterdam artist Eveline Schram has taken over the construction fences at EDGE Coolsingel with a new mural about the city as a place of unexpected encounters. Her work is the sixth and final contribution to the EDGE Coolsingel Artist Competition: Show Me Your (He)Art.

The mural turns the busy pavement opposite Rotterdam City Hall into a colourful reflection on everyday city life. In a place where residents, visitors, office workers, students and shoppers pass each other constantly, Schram focuses on the small moments of connection that often go unnoticed.

Rotterdam as meeting place

Schram’s mural uses graphic figures, bright colours and overlapping shapes to show Rotterdam as a crossing point of individual lives. The composition suggests people touching, passing, meeting and becoming part of one another’s story, even briefly.

That makes the work well suited to the Coolsingel, where the city is almost always in motion. The street is formal, civic and commercial all at once, but also full of quick glances, small gestures and accidental encounters. Basically, Rotterdam doing Rotterdam things, just with better colours.

Schram says she wanted to make those fleeting connections visible. “In a city like Rotterdam, thousands of stories live side by side. I find it beautiful to make visible precisely those unexpected moments of connection, when people cross paths and briefly become part of one another’s story.”

Her visual language often combines accessible graphic forms with social themes. In this mural, the emphasis is less on what separates people and more on the ways a city can bring them into contact.

Final round of Show Me Your (He)Art

The work forms the final round of the Show Me Your (He)Art competition at EDGE Coolsingel. The competition invited local artists to share their work with the city on the construction fences surrounding the development.

Earlier selected artists include Melissa Moria, Tjado Astrando Boerleider, Phlox van Oppen, Jelmer Konjo and Laxmi Manuela. Together, their works have turned the construction site into a changing public art wall between November 2024 and August 2026.

A winner will be announced in September 2026. The final selection will be based partly on public votes and partly on the decision of the EDGE Coolsingel project team.

The main prize is a permanent installation at EDGE Coolsingel. So yes, those construction fences are temporary, but one artist’s work could end up staying much longer than the building-site phase.

About Eveline Schram

Eveline Schram, born in 1989, is a Rotterdam-based visual artist and illustrator. Her work appears across murals, paintings and digital art, with a style defined by clear shapes, vivid colour and a focus on social themes.

Her personal work often explores feminism, identity, equality and human connection from an optimistic and playful perspective. That balance is visible in the Coolsingel mural: bright enough to catch the eye, but built around a real question about how people share public space.

Coolsingel site becomes art wall

EDGE Coolsingel is being developed at Coolsingel 75, opposite City Hall. The future office building is planned to provide around 21,500 square metres of office space and is designed around energy efficiency, sustainability and user wellbeing.

For now, though, the most visible part of the site is not the future office floor, but the public artwork facing the street. The competition has given Rotterdam artists a temporary canvas in one of the city’s most central locations, turning construction fencing into something worth stopping for.

How to get there

The mural is located on the construction fences at EDGE Coolsingel, opposite Rotterdam City Hall. The site is easy to reach on foot from Stadhuis metro station, Meent, Lijnbaan and the Binnenrotte, with tram and metro stops nearby.
