HAPPENING 7 MARCH 2026 | During Museumnacht010 (Museum Night), Nieuwe Instituut is running A Fungi Night Out on Saturday 7 March, with a full evening of performances, DJs, workshops, exhibitions, and a fungi-themed bar. Doors open at 19:00 and the programme runs until midnight in Museumpark.

The hook is clear: this edition leans into the new exhibition FUNGI. Anarchistische ontwerpers, turning the building into what the organisers call a “Myceliumnacht”, with activities that feel more like a night out than a quiet museum visit.
What to expect at a fungi night out
Expect a mix of hands-on and high-energy: you can help build a glow-in-the-dark artwork, get a fungi-inspired nail design, and dance in the Nieuwe Café while a Rotterdam DJ duo takes over the room. If you want something slower, there is also a dedicated audiovisual set in Mush-Room 1, plus a performance you can move through rather than sit and watch.
The Rotterdam sound in the Nieuwe Café
In the Nieuwe Café, Rotterdam duo The Low-G Court (Klapsalon and Doo-Bop) plays an all-vinyl set, paired with live visuals from Co2RO (Marco Broeders). The bar is also joining the theme, with fungi-inspired cocktails listed as part of the night’s “complete the experience” approach.
Performances and pop-up moments across the building
One of the featured performances is Ayatori, inspired by the Japanese string game, designed as a non-verbal piece where you move through a large interactive yarn installation and become part of the scenography. The performance is listed as about 20 to 25 minutes.
Downstairs, -1 Digital Lab hosts a Museumnacht special, including Saddle of Omens (Kaan Korkmaz, 2024), described as interactive fortune telling using sensors and a VR headset, plus a “Nostalgia Media Player” selection of coming-of-age classics from the 80s, 90s and 00s.

Exhibitions and spaces that stay open late
Alongside the night programme, you can also visit exhibitions including Another Island, Dutch, More or Less, and the main show FUNGI. Anarchistische ontwerpers. If you like browsing design books or picking up something on the way out, NAi Boekverkopers and the pop-up shop New Store 3.0 are also listed as part of the evening’s offer.
Ticket prices and where to buy
Ticket pricing listed on the event page is €22.50 regular, €12.50 for children up to 12, and €11.25 for CJP and We Are Public ticket holders (with a discount code). Tickets are linked via the Museumnacht010 sales page: https://museumnacht010.stager.co
How to get there
Nieuwe Instituut is in Museumpark, which makes it one of the easiest Museumnacht stops to combine with other venues nearby. If you are coming by metro, Eendrachtsplein is a practical option for the walk in, and if you are cycling, Museumpark is a straightforward ride from most central neighbourhoods. On Museumnacht, cycling is often the quickest way to keep your evening flexible between venues.
