Rotterdam’s skating season is getting an indoor encore this autumn as the Laurenskerk turns into a Roller Disco from Wednesday 21 to Friday 23 October, with daytime skating sessions and three nights of DJs, disco lights and dancing under the church’s historic vaults.
Three days of skating inside Laurenskerk
The Roller Disco returns during the autumn school holiday after two previous editions, once again bringing a full skating floor into one of Rotterdam’s most recognisable historic buildings. The event is organised by Laurenskerk together with Rotterdam Sport Import (RSI).
There is a rather nice Rotterdam connection here. RSI has been part of the city’s skate culture since 1978 and was also behind the original Wednesday Night Skate, which eventually grew into a huge summer tradition through Rotterdam’s streets. This October, instead of rolling past the Laurenskerk, you get to roll around inside it.
And the setting is certainly different from your average sports hall. The Laurenskerk was built between around 1449 and 1525 and is the only surviving late-Gothic building from medieval Rotterdam. It was badly damaged during the bombing of 14 May 1940 and later restored, becoming one of the city’s most visible symbols of reconstruction.

Daytime sessions welcome all ages
Thursday 22 and Friday 23 October begin with daytime Roller Disco sessions from 10:00 to 19:00. These are aimed at a broad mix of families, recreational skaters, beginners and more experienced visitors.
Staff will be available to help if you are still finding your balance, while roller skates can be rented from RSI inside the church. Rental skates are available in sizes 34 to 47, subject to availability. Bringing your own roller skates or inline skates is also allowed.
A regular daytime ticket costs €9.50, while children aged 6 to 12 pay €5. The church will also have a food and drink area where you can take a break between laps. Bringing your own food and drinks is not permitted.
Wednesday 21 October is slightly different: there is no daytime session that day, so the 2026 Roller Disco officially gets rolling with the first evening party at 19:00.
DJs take over after dark
At 19:00, the atmosphere shifts from daytime skating to a 16+ evening Roller Disco, running until 23:00 on all three nights. The lights come on, the volume goes up and the Laurenskerk becomes a dance floor on wheels.
DJStayFun, Stefan Seedorf, plays on Wednesday and Friday. Seedorf comes from a dance background and has been involved in the roller-skating scene for years, playing skate events in the Netherlands and abroad.
Thursday belongs to DJ Bootsy Paul, who performs while skating and moves through funk, disco and soul alongside styles ranging from hip-hop and house to R&B and salsa.
Evening tickets cost €13.50. The current Laurenskerk programme lists the evening sessions as 16+, so these are separate from the all-ages daytime programme.

Bring your skates or rent a pair
RSI will provide skate rental during the event for €12.50 per pair. The organiser states that a €150 deposit can be paid in cash, or a valid ID can be left during the rental period and returned when the equipment comes back. Rental remains subject to availability.
Roller skates and inline skates are welcome on the floor, but skateboards, scooters and similar equipment are not. Visitors who are not skating are restricted to the catering area.

How to get there
The Roller Disco takes place at Laurenskerk Rotterdam, Grotekerkplein 15, 3011 GC Rotterdam, right in the city centre. Blaak train, metro and tram station is close to the church, making public transport one of the easiest ways to get there.
