Mayor Carola Schouten has officially reopened the Euromast following an extensive renovation of the tower and its renewed brasserie.

Mayor Carola Schouten reopens the Euromast

ROTTERDAM, 20 July 2026 – Mayor Carola Schouten officially reopened the Euromast on Friday 17 July, marking the completion of a renovation that lasted almost six months. Although visitors had already been welcomed back from 19 June, the ceremony formed the celebratory conclusion to the extensive work on one of Rotterdam’s best-known landmarks.

Invited guests gathered inside the renewed tower for drinks, food and live music, accompanied by panoramic views across Rotterdam. The occasion also marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Euromast, with a renovated exterior, a redesigned brasserie and a summer programme of rooftop events and adventurous activities.

Tower prepared for the future

The renovation focused extensively on the exterior of the Euromast, helping to preserve the 1960 landmark in the years ahead. The work required the tower to close temporarily during the first half of 2026, before reopening earlier than originally planned.

Brasserie Euromast also received a complete makeover. Its interior and bar have been redesigned, while the menu now offers a new selection of contemporary dishes, drinks and dining options throughout the day. Visitors can stop by for coffee or something sweet, or reserve a table for lunch or dinner overlooking the city.

New director starts with reopening

The official reopening was a significant early moment for Menno Noordenbos, who joined the Euromast as Managing Director in June. He arrived during the final phase of the renovation and witnessed the completion of the project shortly after taking up his new role.

“Since June, I have been part of the Euromast team. It feels special to be able to contribute to the reopening of this iconic place at this stage. The fact that we can welcome visitors again and build a new chapter together makes me incredibly proud,” Noordenbos said.

Mayor celebrates Rotterdam icon

During the ceremony, Mayor Carola Schouten emphasised that familiar city landmarks require continual care and investment. While the Euromast may feel like a permanent part of Rotterdam’s skyline, maintaining its structure and keeping the visitor experience relevant requires considerable work behind the scenes.

“This operation really was next level. The Euromast has stood here for a very long time and is rightly an icon of our city. Icons must be cherished. They must be maintained, both literally and figuratively, while we continually consider how to keep this a place where people can discover the city again,” Schouten said.

“For me, that is what the Euromast represents: the place where you discover the city. There is a reason so many visitors begin here. You quickly gain an overview of Rotterdam, but you also develop an appreciation of where the city came from, what it has experienced and where we stand today.”

Schouten added that the view from the tower remains a powerful reminder of Rotterdam’s development. “When I stand here and look around, I feel incredibly proud of what has been achieved. I am therefore pleased that the Euromast is fully open again and that every generation can once more admire our city from this place.”

Summer events above Rotterdam

The reopening leads into a busy summer programme. A pop-up Rooftop Bar will remain open on the outdoor panoramic platforms until 30 August, giving visitors the chance to order drinks approximately 100 metres above Rotterdam.

The Euromast Silent Disco returns on Friday 14 August, while the annual Stair Run takes place on Sunday 27 September. Participants in the Stair Run will climb 589 steps to the observation level, complete with professional timing and a medal at the finish.

Weekend abseiling has also returned following the renovation. Participants descend from the tower at a height of around 100 metres, with advance booking required. Schouten announced during the reopening that she planned to take on the abseiling challenge herself on Thursday 23 July.

Visitors can also experience The Rise of Rotterdam, the interactive presentation introducing the city’s origins, destruction and reconstruction. From there, the route continues to the observation platforms and the rotating Euroscoop, which travels to a height of 185 metres.

Plan your Euromast visit

The Euromast is open daily from 09:30 to 22:00. Brasserie Euromast is accessible throughout the day, although reservations are recommended when visiting for a full lunch, dinner, brunch or high tea. Admission to the observation platforms and Euroscoop requires a visitor ticket.

Current opening hours, event tickets, restaurant reservations and abseiling bookings are available through https://euromast.nl/.
