HAPPENING 19 SEP '26 | Brocante Markt Klein Frankrijk returns to Mijnsheerenland on Saturday 19 September, bringing more than 200 sellers of antiques, vintage furniture, collectables and curiosities to Recreatieoord Binnenmaas. The 18th edition runs from 09:00 to 17:00 and adds food trucks, live French chansons and a deliberately informal market set-up to the day.
A little piece of France
If brocante is an unfamiliar word, think somewhere between an antiques market, vintage fair and very good rummage sale. The French term is commonly associated with second-hand decorative objects, furniture and collectables, often with a bit more age and character than you would expect at a standard flea market.
That is the idea behind Brocante Markt Klein Frankrijk, or ‘Little France’. The market takes place twice a year at Recreatieoord Binnenmaas in Mijnsheerenland, with the September edition following an earlier market in May.
Part of its character comes from the way sellers set up. Rather than everyone receiving identical market stalls, participants are allocated space alongside their vehicle and create their own miniature shop. The result is a less uniform market where every pitch can look completely different from the next.

More than 200 places to browse
Around 200 sellers are expected for the 18th edition. You can expect antique and brocante pieces, vintage furniture, household accessories, collectables, jewellery and regional products, alongside the inevitable objects that are difficult to categorise but somehow end up coming home with you anyway.
The organisers specifically allow sellers to bring attic finds and smaller pieces of furniture alongside more conventional antiques and vintage goods. That gives the market a broad range, from decorative pieces and glassware to old household objects and one-off finds rather than rows of newly manufactured products.
The photographs from previous editions give a good idea of the atmosphere: tables crowded with crockery, glassware, old clocks, baskets and furniture, while visitors browse between pitches spread across the grass at Recreatieoord Binnenmaas.
French chansons and food trucks
Klein Frankrijk is designed as more than a shopping trip. Food trucks will be on site throughout the day, while a musician moves around the market performing French chansons.
The combination has helped turn the recurring market into more of a day out than a traditional antiques fair. Visit Hoeksche Waard describes live music, food trucks and the market atmosphere as established parts of the event alongside the stalls themselves.
And with opening hours from 09:00 until 17:00, there is plenty of time to conduct the time-honoured brocante ritual of deciding an object is completely unnecessary, walking away, thinking about it for twenty minutes and then going back to see whether somebody else bought it.

Tickets and payment
Admission costs €6 per person, while children under 10 enter free. Parking at Recreatieoord Binnenmaas is also free.
One practical detail is worth knowing before leaving Rotterdam: the entrance desk accepts cash only. The organisers also recommend bringing enough cash for the market itself because card payments are not available at every seller’s pitch.
The market is outdoors, so checking the weather forecast before travelling is probably sensible. The event is scheduled to run from 09:00 to 17:00 on Saturday 19 September 2026.
