SOUTH HOLLAND, 11 August 2026 – A beer by the sea can cost as little as €3.20 or as much as €5.00 at South Holland beach bars this summer. New research by Strandtenten.nl shows substantial differences between venues, while prices have also risen again compared with 2025.
Strandtenten.nl compared coffee, cappuccino and 25-centilitre draught beer prices at beach bars around the Dutch coast. Across the full study, 180 venues were included, although prices were not available for every drink at every location.
Beer prices vary by €1.80
In South Holland, some of the cheapest beers in the research can be found at Strandpaviljoen De Staat in The Hague and De Koele Costa in Noordwijk. Both charge €3.20 for a 25-centilitre beer.
At the other end of the scale is Zanzibar Beachclub in The Hague, where the same size beer costs €5.00. That is a difference of €1.80, or 56 per cent, depending entirely on where you put your feet in the sand.
Other relatively expensive options include Spice Beach Club and Strandtent Solbeach Scheveningen, where a 25-centilitre beer costs €4.80. The South Holland average is €4.13, compared with a national average of €3.98.
The Hague stands out as one of the more expensive beach destinations overall. Across Scheveningen and Kijkduin, the average beer price is €4.28. There are exceptions, however: Strandpaviljoen De Staat is in the same municipality while offering one of the cheapest beers in the entire study.

Coffee prices also vary widely
The differences are not limited to beer. De Koele Costa in Noordwijk charges €2.60 for a regular coffee, making it one of the cheapest options in South Holland.
At several venues in The Hague, including Strandtent Solbeach Scheveningen and Naturel, a coffee costs €4.00. That means simply changing beach bar can add €1.40 to the price of a basic coffee.
Cappuccino shows a similar pattern. De Koele Costa charges €3.20, while Solbeach and Naturel charge €4.70.
Across the Netherlands, cappuccino actually produces the largest differences in the complete Strandtenten.nl study. The national average stands at €3.89, while individual prices range from €2.50 to €4.75.
What it costs in Hoek van Holland
Rotterdam does have its own beach, of course. In the research data supplied to RotterdamStyle, one Hoek van Holland beach pavilion has published prices for all three drinks: Strandpaviljoen Noord Noord West.
A coffee there costs €3.80, a cappuccino €3.90 and a 25-centilitre draught beer €4.50. Strandtenten.nl currently lists the same 2026 prices on its page for the venue.
All three have become more expensive since last summer. In 2025, the comparison listed coffee at €3.40, cappuccino at €3.70 and beer at €4.40. That means coffee has increased by 40 cents, cappuccino by 20 cents and beer by 10 cents.
The €4.50 beer at Noord Noord West is above the South Holland average of €4.13, but still 50 cents below the highest price found in the province. Its €3.90 cappuccino, meanwhile, is almost exactly in line with the national average of €3.89.
It is important not to read too much into that single Rotterdam result. Hoek van Holland has numerous other beach clubs, but Strandtenten.nl does not currently publish drink prices for several of them. The figure therefore tells us what a round costs at Noord Noord West, not what every beach bar on Rotterdam's coast charges.

Beach drinks keep getting more expensive
The broader trend is upwards. Across the complete Dutch study, an average coffee increased from €3.38 in 2025 to €3.47 this year. Cappuccino rose from €3.80 to €3.89, while the average 25-centilitre beer climbed from €3.86 to €3.98.
The annual increases are relatively modest compared with the differences between individual venues. In practice, where you sit down can have a considerably bigger effect on the final bill than this year's general price increase.
That becomes particularly noticeable when buying a round. A few differences of 50 cents or €1 per drink add up quickly once several people are ordering, even if comparing prices is probably not the first thing on your mind when the sun is out and the North Sea is a few metres away.
Hans Buis, founder of Strandtenten.nl, makes a similar point: most visitors may not worry about a few extra cents at the beach, but the choice of beach bar can make a noticeable difference once you order coffee or beer for several people.
About the research
Strandtenten.nl collected prices from 180 beach bars in Friesland, North Holland, Zeeland and South Holland. For 2026, the researchers obtained 173 coffee prices, 165 cappuccino prices and 158 beer prices. Not every venue sells all three products, and comparable 2025 prices were not available in every case.
That means the rankings provide a useful snapshot rather than a complete price list of every beach bar on the Dutch coast. Still, one conclusion is fairly clear: the price of your seaside drink can change considerably depending on where you choose to order it.
