The Oranje Fonds invites Rotterdam organisations to join NLdoet 2026, the country’s largest volunteer campaign, on 13 and 14 March 2026.

NLdoet 2026: call for volunteer projects in Rotterdam

ROTTERDAM, 3 November 2025 – The Oranje Fonds is calling on Rotterdam’s community organisations, foundations and associations to register their activities for NLdoet 2026 — the Netherlands’ largest volunteer campaign, taking place on 13 and 14 March 2026. From urban gardens to neighbourhood clean-ups and creative workshops, local initiatives can now apply to join the 22nd edition of this nationwide event.

Rotterdam has long been one of the most active cities during NLdoet, with residents from all backgrounds volunteering together to make their neighbourhoods greener, cleaner and more connected.

Building a connected city

Across the Netherlands, thousands of volunteers play an essential role in community life. In Rotterdam, their efforts sustain places like community centres, food banks and city gardens — places that bring people together.

Participating in NLdoet offers local organisations not only practical help, but also new relationships with volunteers who may stay involved long after the event. “Volunteering strengthens both the city and the individual,” said Sandra Jetten, director of the Oranje Fonds. “When you work alongside others — gardening, painting, dancing, or simply sharing a coffee — you help make society better, and your own life richer.”

How to take part

Organisations looking for volunteers can register their activity from 3 November via NLdoet.nl. Each participant can apply for a contribution of up to €350 from the Oranje Fonds to cover catering or materials. Applications are open until 31 January 2026.

Last year, more than 67,000 people joined over 7,200 activities across the country, including many in Rotterdam. The Oranje Fonds hopes to see even more local participation this year — from companies, schools, associations and neighbours who want to lend a hand.

Caribbean edition

Thousands also participate annually in the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom during ARUBA DOET, BON DOET, CURA DOET, SXM DOET, SABA DOET and STATIA DOET, held on 15 and 16 May. These events share the same goal: encouraging everyone to contribute to their community in a meaningful and joyful way.
