ROTTERDAM, 2 May 2025 – A revised bus timetable will be introduced in Rotterdam from Monday 5 May. Changes include route updates and frequency adjustments, especially at weekends.
RET announces updated bus services starting 5 May
Public transport operator RET has announced that a revised bus timetable will come into effect across the Rotterdam region from Monday 5 May 2025. In addition to bus services, tram and metro operations will resume a more frequent schedule from Tuesday 6 May, following the end of the holiday timetable.
Due to ongoing works in the areas of Hofplein and Nieuwe Binnenweg, passengers should be prepared for changes in the routes and timings of tram lines 4, 6 and 7, as well as bus line 38.
Adjustments to specific bus lines
Several bus lines in Rotterdam will experience either route changes or timetable modifications. Some lines will run more frequently during weekends, while a few will operate less often. Key changes include:
Line 32: Overschie – Station Zuid
The route to Station Zuid will now go via Oranjeboomstraat instead of Persoonshaven.

New stops (towards Station Zuid): Damstraat, Station Zuid/Rosebrug

Discontinued stop (towards Station Zuid): Rose-Spoorstraat
Line 33: Centraal Station – The Hague Airport – Meijersplein
On Saturdays and Sundays between 10:00 and 18:00, the service will increase to six buses per hour.
Line 38: Schiedam Centrum – Rotterdam Centraal – Crooswijk
Bus 38 will resume its service to Crooswijk on Saturdays.
Line 56: Vlaardingen West – Holy Noord
A Saturday service increase to three buses per hour between 11:00 and 17:00 will be implemented.
Line 63: Hoogvliet Metro – Zalmplaat
On weekdays, daytime service will be reduced from twice per hour to once per hour. The discontinued journeys will be covered by the newly introduced line 64.
Line 64: Hoogvliet Metro – Kijvelanden
This new route will operate via Zalmplaat and Poortugaal to the Kijvelanden on weekdays during the day.
Line 65: Poortugaal Metro – Overhoeken
This line will be discontinued. Alternatives are available and indicated in RET’s map of the area.
Line 72: Zuidplein – Sluisjesdijk
The route will once again include Willem Egmondstraat.

New stops: Willem Egmondstraat, Van Kamphofstraat
Line 77: Zuidplein – Katendrecht
The early morning service at 6:20 from Zuidplein to Rijnhaven will be removed. A new evening trip at 21:19 from Zuidplein to Katendrecht will be added.
Line 79: Poortugaal Metro – Kijvelanden
This route will be replaced by the new line 64.
Line 83: Kralingse Zoom – Keizerwaard
This line will now operate twice per hour during rush hour, compensating for the cancellation of line 283.
Line 156: Vlaardingen West – Holy Noord
Saturday service will increase to three buses per hour between 11:00 and 17:00.
Line 187: Zuidplein – Nieuw Reijerwaard
In Barendrecht, the route will now run via Spoorlaan and Koopliedenweg.

Discontinued stop: Ziedewij
Line 283: Zuidplein – Barendrecht
The route will be shortened and will only run between Zuidplein and Barendrecht. Service will begin earlier in the afternoon, starting at 13:00. The stretch from Barendrecht to Kralingse Zoom is discontinued, with travellers advised to use line 183 instead.
Increased frequency on weekends
The following bus lines will see increased service on Saturdays and/or Sundays: 30, 31, 32, 33, 36, 38, 44 (evening), 56, 63, 66, 68, 70, 76, 77, 84, 97, 98, 156.

Travellers are advised to consult the RET travel planner or mobile app when organising their journeys. The updated schedules may affect connection times and stop locations. The changes aim to improve travel flow, particularly in response to passenger trends observed in weekend ridership.
