Rotterdam’s Techone achieves first NIS2 Quality Mark certification

Techone, a prominent ICT service provider in the Netherlands, has become the first company in the country to earn the newly introduced NIS2 Quality Mark QM30 certification. This milestone underscores Techone’s commitment to meeting stringent cybersecurity standards outlined by the European NIS2 directive, which is set to take effect in 2025.

The certificate was presented by Dr Peter Noordhoek, director-secretary of the Stichting Kwaliteitsinnovatie, during a formal event. DigiTrust, an independent auditing authority, conducted the assessment leading to Techone's certification.

What is the NIS2 Quality Mark?

The NIS2 Quality Mark (NIS2-keurmerk), developed in the Netherlands, is a structured certification system aimed at assisting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in achieving compliance with the European Union's NIS2 directive. The directive introduces rigorous cybersecurity standards for businesses and mandates oversight of supply chain security.

The Quality Mark offers three levels of certification: QM10, QM20, and QM30. Each level helps organisations strengthen their digital resilience and demonstrate compliance, particularly in supply chain contexts. The initiative has been supported by over 60 industry and sector organisations in the Netherlands and Europe.

Why the certification matters

The NIS2 directive not only requires organisations to bolster their own cybersecurity defences but also to monitor the digital security of their suppliers. Failure to comply can result in penalties and increased liability. The NIS2 Quality Mark provides a practical pathway for SMEs to maintain compliance and safeguard their contractual relationships.

By earning the QM30 certification, Techone has established itself as a reliable partner in cybersecurity and positioned itself to support the digital resilience of its clients.
