ROTTERDAM, 3 September 2026 – MyWheels is adding four electric Kia PV5 Cargo shared vans to its Rotterdam fleet as part of a new national rollout of 30 vehicles. The vans can be booked through the MyWheels app and are intended for journeys where a regular shared car does not offer enough cargo space.
Four shared vans for Rotterdam
The introduction follows a trial with two electric Renault Kangoo shared vans in Rotterdam earlier in 2026. That test showed demand for vehicles with more loading capacity alongside MyWheels’ existing shared-car fleet.
The new service also broadens the potential use of car sharing. A household may already have its own car but still occasionally need something bigger for moving house, collecting furniture or transporting bulky items.
“Most people don’t need a large car or van every day, but sometimes extra space is exactly what you need. For example, when you’re moving house, picking up furniture or taking large items to the recycling centre,” says MyWheels COO Claire Sipkema.
“With these electric shared vans, we are adding a very different use case to MyWheels. Even if you already have a car parked outside, a MyWheels van can simply be the most convenient solution at such a moment.”

Kia PV5 offers extra cargo space
MyWheels has chosen the electric Kia PV5 Cargo for the national expansion. The model offers up to 4.4 cubic metres of cargo space, enough for two Euro pallets. A flat loading floor and low loading threshold are intended to make the cargo area easier to access. The PV5 Cargo has a stated driving range of up to 416 kilometres.
Because the vans are electric, they can enter urban environmental zones where restrictions apply to more polluting vehicles. Rotterdam users will be able to find and reserve the vans through the same MyWheels app used for regular shared cars. The practical difference is the amount of space available. Rather than keeping or hiring a larger vehicle permanently, users can book one when a particular journey requires more carrying capacity.
Rotterdam trial leads to national rollout
Rotterdam played an early role in the service through MyWheels’ two-van trial earlier this year. The company is now expanding the idea to seven Dutch cities with a total of 30 Kia PV5 Cargo vehicles. Amsterdam and Utrecht will each receive six vans. Rotterdam, The Hague and Eindhoven will each receive four, while Nijmegen gets three and Haarlem another three. The Rotterdam allocation means the city will account for four of the 30 vehicles in the initial national fleet.
MyWheels has not provided the exact Rotterdam locations of the four vans in the announcement, so users will need to check the app to see where individual vehicles are available.

Partners support the expansion
The introduction of the Kia PV5 Cargo fleet was developed with Wassink Autogroep and leasing company Ayvens. Both companies worked with MyWheels on the delivery and introduction of the new electric vehicles. The rollout adds a new vehicle category to the company’s existing shared mobility offer, moving beyond passenger cars into electric vans designed around occasional cargo needs.
For Rotterdam, it also builds directly on a local test and turns that trial into a permanent part of MyWheels’ wider Dutch fleet.
