Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita celebrates its 50th anniversary with a concert version at Nieuwe Luxor, performed in English with a 30-piece orchestra and large choir.

The musical tells the story of Eva Perón, who rose from modest beginnings to become one of Argentina’s most famous and controversial public figures. The score includes Don’t Cry for Me Argentina, the song that helped turn the 1976 concept album into an international success before Evita moved to the stage.

Vajèn van den Bosch takes the role of Eva Perón, with Milan van Waardenburg as Che. Dieter Troubleyn appears as Juan Perón and Louis Thyssen as Magaldi. Rather than a full traditional staging, this anniversary edition is presented as a musical concert, putting the score, soloists, orchestra and choir at the centre.

On Wednesday 2 December, Luxor also hosts a free Musical Up Close session after the performance, with interviews and live piano performances exploring the people and craft behind musical theatre. A separate free reservation is required.
