International Guitar Night

International Guitar Night returns to Rotterdam with a line-up that treats the acoustic guitar as a whole universe, from raw, soulful slide to classical precision and global groove. The concept was created in California in 1995 by “guitar poet” Brian Gore, who no longer performs himself but still curates the evening. The idea is simple and effective: four guitarists with very different backgrounds, sharing one stage and showing how far you can stretch six strings.

This edition brings four distinct voices. Minnie Marks (Australia) is described as a true one-woman band: singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and a fierce guitarist who pairs a Goldtop with a foot drum, delivering thick grooves, rough-edged soul, and furious slide. Roxane Elfasci (France) brings a more intimate classical world, with releases including Hommage à Debussy and Poésie Française, and a 2025 project Glass Gaze featuring music by Philip Glass.

Then there’s Niwel Tsumbu (Congo/Ireland), whose virtuoso style blends jazz, classical, rock, folk and rumba. The listing highlights work with artists such as Sinéad O’Connor and Buena Vista Social Club, plus an appearance on Rhiannon Giddens’ Grammy-winning album They’re Calling Me Home. Finally, André Cavalcante (Brazil) rounds out the night, a fingerstyle guitarist with classical training from Rio de Janeiro who became a major name in Brazil’s religious music world and later earned millions of views and multiple Grammy nominations.
