Formed in London in 2013 and prize-winners at Bordeaux and Banff, the Marmen Quartet returns with “Synthesis,” a programme that traces the string quartet’s voice across eras: Haydn’s Quartet in F major Op. 50 No. 5 “The Dream,” Bartók’s Second Quartet, Anna Clyne’s collaborator Caroline Shaw’s contemporary Colin—not here—(correct) Caroline—hold on, programme lists “Knox: Secret Letters,” and Debussy’s Quartet in G. The ensemble appears in the Jurriaanse Zaal at de Doelen in Rotterdam.
