ROTTERDAM, 8 September 2026 – Rotterdam will gain another direct rail connection to Paris when Dutch operator GoVolta starts its daily service on 14 December 2026. The train will stop at Rotterdam Centraal in both directions, with published timetable plans putting Paris less than six hours away on the outward journey and fares between the Netherlands and France starting at €19.
Direct from Rotterdam to Paris
GoVolta’s new train will run daily between Amsterdam Centraal and Paris Gare du Nord, but Rotterdam is one of the key intermediate stops. From Rotterdam Centraal, you will be able to stay on the same train through Belgium and northern France before arriving in central Paris.
The full route runs via Haarlem, Den Haag HS, Rotterdam Centraal, Lage Zwaluwe, Roosendaal, Antwerpen-Centraal, Gent-Sint-Pieters, Arras and Longueau near Amiens before reaching Paris Gare du Nord. NS International currently also lists Rotterdam among the Dutch boarding stations for the service from 14 December.
That gives Rotterdam another direct option alongside the existing international rail connections from the city. GoVolta is positioning itself at the lower-cost end of the market, with fares between the Netherlands and France starting at €19 and Netherlands-Belgium journeys starting at €10.
Tickets were first released on 28 May 2026. Current availability and fares can be checked directly at www.govolta.eu, as prices and available connections depend on the travel date.

Rotterdam to Paris timetable
For Rotterdam travellers, the journey is considerably shorter than the full Amsterdam to Paris trip of just over seven hours. GoVolta’s published nominal timetable shows the southbound train leaving Rotterdam Centraal at 09:02 and reaching Paris Gare du Nord at 14:54, a journey of approximately 5 hours and 52 minutes.
On the return journey, the train is scheduled to leave Paris at 15:49 and stop at Rotterdam Centraal at 22:21, making the return journey approximately 6 hours and 32 minutes.
The timetable also makes direct Rotterdam day-to-day connections possible with cities including Antwerp and Ghent. Heading south, the train is scheduled to leave Rotterdam at 09:02, reach Antwerpen-Centraal at 10:46 and Gent-Sint-Pieters at 11:42.
These times should still be treated as provisional. GoVolta describes the timetable as nominal and notes that departure and arrival times may be adjusted depending on infrastructure availability, while NS International recommends checking GoVolta’s current timetable before travelling.
The route has been coordinated with infrastructure managers ProRail in the Netherlands, Infrabel in Belgium and SNCF Réseau in France. GoVolta submitted its path requests in April 2026.
There is another interesting development for Rotterdam travellers too. GoVolta notified the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets in July that it intends to allow passengers to use the Paris service for domestic journeys between its Dutch stops from 14 December, rather than restricting the train exclusively to international journeys.
What the GoVolta trains offer
Each Paris service is planned to have 11 carriages, comprising nine Economy coaches, one Comfort coach and a restaurant car called the GoVolta Lounge. Capacity is listed at up to 840 passengers per train.
Every passenger receives a reserved seat. The refurbished i10 coaches are the same type already used by GoVolta on its Amsterdam-Berlin operation.
The restaurant car is intended to offer breakfast, lunch and dinner during the journey. That could be particularly relevant on the longer Rotterdam-Paris trip, which takes close to six hours southbound under the currently published timetable.
GoVolta’s current booking information also includes two pieces of hand luggage with a standard ticket, while larger luggage, specific seat selection and Comfort Class upgrades can be booked separately.

Paris is not the only useful connection
The new service potentially matters to Rotterdam beyond Paris. Because it travels through Antwerp and Ghent without requiring a change, it adds another direct international train option from Rotterdam Centraal towards Belgium.
Ghent is a particularly notable addition. GoVolta deliberately chose the city rather than Brussels because Brussels already has several international rail connections, while Ghent previously lacked a direct international service from the Netherlands and Paris.
From Rotterdam, the planned route therefore provides direct trains to Antwerp, Ghent, Arras, Amiens and Paris on the same service. GoVolta says journeys between the Netherlands and Belgium will start at €10.
The first Rotterdam-Paris service is scheduled for Monday 14 December 2026. GoVolta plans to operate one return service every day of the year, apart from limited exceptions.
GoVolta plans further expansion
GoVolta began operating international trains between the Netherlands and Germany in March 2026. The company says more than 90,000 passengers had used its Netherlands-Germany services by the time the Paris plans were announced.
For 2028, the operator is aiming for faster journey times and two return trains per day on its international routes. It has also submitted plans for an additional stop in the Lille region on the Paris route. (GoVolta)
For Rotterdam, the immediate change arrives much sooner: from December, Rotterdam Centraal is scheduled to become a daily GoVolta stop on a direct route linking the city with Antwerp, Ghent and Paris.
