THE HAGUE, 22 January 2025 – Seaview has officially opened in Scheveningen after a major redevelopment of the former Seaview Offices building at Gevers Deynootweg 61. The renewed building now offers 66 flexible studios, apartments and hotel rooms for short and longer stays near the coast.

Owner RE:BORN and operator NUMA have transformed the building into an aparthotel with modern facilities, a restored classical appearance and a flexible layout that can adapt to different types of stays.
Seaview opens by the coast
The building on Gevers Deynootweg has undergone a 1.5-year renovation. What was once Seaview Offices is now a digitally operated aparthotel with 66 studios across eight floors.
The accommodation is aimed at guests who need a short stay, a longer temporary home or a more flexible alternative to a standard hotel room. That includes compact studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments and hotel rooms.
Historic building gets new use
Seaview’s story goes back further than its office years. The current building refers to Hotel van Abeelen, which stood on this location in the early 20th century.
After a fire in 1975, the hotel was demolished and replaced by Seaview Offices. In the redevelopment, RE:BORN and architect SYNRG brought back elements of the site’s earlier character, including the distinctive tower that now again acts as a visual marker on the street.

Flexible studios and apartments
The redeveloped Seaview is a function-free building, meaning it can be used for different purposes such as living, working and staying. RE:BORN describes this as its Living+ concept (Wonen+-concept), with rooms that can shift from compact studios to larger apartments.
Saman Mohammadi, co-owner of RE:BORN, says the building can respond to different housing needs. “We have created a building that can immediately adapt to the needs of its users. People affected by fire, people between two homes, or expats temporarily in The Hague for an assignment, in short, different groups with a housing need that would normally put pressure on the regular Hague housing market, can temporarily stay here. We call this the Living+ concept. Our building can easily adapt from a compact studio to a spacious apartment.”
Modern rooms with balconies
Inside, the studios are fitted with kitchens, balconies and modern interiors using natural materials and wood tones. Some rooms also include extra living space with a seating area.
The lobby offers space to meet or relax, along with neighbourhood information intended to introduce guests to local Scheveningen life. It is not quite “move in and become a local overnight”, obviously, but it does make the stay feel less anonymous.

NUMA manages stay digitally
Seaview is operated by NUMA, which runs the aparthotel remotely. That means there is no need for 24/7 staff on site.
Guests manage their stay digitally and can receive support through the NUMA app or WhatsApp. It fits the broader aparthotel model: more independence than a hotel, but still with help nearby when needed.
Renovation saves CO2
Sustainability played a major role in the redevelopment. Seaview is almost energy-neutral, fully electric and fitted with special solar panels that generate both electricity and heat.
By preserving the existing building structure and reusing materials from the original building, RE:BORN says the project achieved a CO2 saving of around 65% compared with new construction.

Jouke Hennipman, technical developer at RE:BORN, says the renovation focused on bringing the classical design back in a modern way. “After an intensive renovation period of 1.5 years, we can finally open the redeveloped Seaview today as an aparthotel. We are very happy with the final result and that we achieved this with all partners. Personally, I am most proud of how well we managed to bring back the classical design in a modern way. During construction, we paid a lot of attention to the right detailing, and you can see that in the final result. Seaview has become a place that beautifully combines modernity and history. I hope guests will experience this unique concept.”
He also connects the project to RE:BORN’s circular approach. “Circularity is a core value of our work. For Seaview, we achieved a CO2 saving of around 65% compared with new construction. Through reuse, we contribute to a more sustainable future and improve the streetscape in Scheveningen.”

Neighbours welcome result
Local residents have also responded positively to the redevelopment. Ieteke Wegman, chair of the owners’ association VvE Helena aan Zee, says: “We want to compliment RE:BORN on the beautiful result of the Seaview renovation. It looks beautiful and is an asset to Scheveningen. We have confidence in RE:BORN as a developer and look forward to their other projects, such as De Pier in Scheveningen!”
The opening adds a new aparthotel option to Scheveningen’s accommodation mix, with the building’s past kept visible rather than wiped clean. Always nice when redevelopment remembers the plot.
How to get there
Seaview is located on Gevers Deynootweg in Scheveningen, close to the beach, the boulevard and the main coastal attractions. From Rotterdam, you can travel by train to Den Haag Centraal and continue by tram towards Scheveningen, or drive via the A13 and The Hague.
