Pop Mart opens flagship store on Rotterdam’s Lijnbaan

ROTTERDAM, 23 September 2025 – Pop Mart is opening its first Rotterdam store on Friday 26 September. The Asian collectible brand, known for its designer toys, will launch the 110 m² shop on Lijnbaan with exclusive items and an opening celebration.

Opening celebration

The Rotterdam flagship is nearly twice the size of Pop Mart’s Amsterdam shop, which opened in 2024. The launch begins at 10:00 with live music from a brass band. Collectors are expected to queue early for limited releases, including the SKULLPANDA You Found Me! Series Plush Doll Pendant and the SKULLPANDA Covenant of the White Moon Figure.

Why Rotterdam

Peter Shipman, Head of Europe at Pop Mart, explains the choice of location: “Rotterdam has an energy that matches Pop Mart’s playful spirit. The Lijnbaan is a place where art, fashion and design meet, and we are looking forward to welcoming both fans and newcomers.”

Lijnbaan is one of the city’s best-known shopping streets, with a history as the first pedestrianised shopping area in Europe. The new flagship puts Pop Mart among Rotterdam’s central retail and cultural attractions, within walking distance of the Markthal and the Maritime Museum.

Collectibles and culture

Pop Mart collaborates with international artists to create designer toy lines that have achieved global recognition. Popular series include:

  • MOLLY: a wide-eyed character that became one of Pop Mart’s first global successes.
  • DIMOO: a childlike figure often shown in dreamlike, surreal settings.
  • SKULLPANDA: darker, gothic-inspired designs that stand out in the collection.
  • THE MONSTERS: playful creatures designed to appeal to younger audiences.
  • HIRONO: a figure rooted in street culture and urban fashion.

Collectibles range from €15 for a single blind box figure to more than €1,000 for larger or rare items. Fans often treat them as part of a growing art toy culture, where toys function as affordable pieces of design and personal expression.

European expansion

The Rotterdam opening follows the launch of the Amsterdam store in 2024 and marks the next step in Pop Mart’s Dutch expansion. A pop-up shop will open at De Bijenkorf Amsterdam on 10 October, followed by a permanent store in Utrecht’s Hoog Catharijne on 31 October.

Internationally, Pop Mart has recently opened flagship shops in London, Paris and Milan. Rotterdam’s location underlines the city’s role in Europe’s creative retail landscape and its appeal to global lifestyle brands.

Location and directions

The Pop Mart flagship is located on the Lijnbaan, Rotterdam’s central pedestrian shopping street. It is a short walk from Rotterdam Centraal Station and is easily accessible by tram, metro or bicycle.
