De Kleine Prins

De Kleine Prins comes to Oude Luxor with a family musical based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s famous modern fairytale. The story follows the Little Prince and the Pilot as they travel past different planets and eventually arrive on Earth.

Along the way, they meet characters including the Geographer, the Lamplighter, the Merchant, the King and the Fox. Through these encounters, the Little Prince discovers what love, friendship and connection really mean. When he finds an entire row of rose bushes on Earth, he is disappointed at first, until the Fox teaches him why his own Rose is still unique: because she is the one he loves.

The production uses magical projections, music and theatrical storytelling to bring the classic tale to the stage. René van Kooten joins the cast for this version, adding a familiar musical theatre name to a story that continues to speak to young audiences and adults alike.

First published in 1943, De Kleine Prins became one of the best-known and most translated works of French literature. This stage version keeps the heart of the story intact: some of the most important things in life cannot be seen with the eyes alone.
