We Will Rock You

We Will Rock You lands at Nieuwe Luxor in Rotterdam as the official Queen musical, bringing more than 20 of the band’s best-known songs to the stage in a large-scale production with a full Dutch cast performing the numbers in English. Since its world premiere in 2002, the musical has been seen by more than 20 million people worldwide, and this Rotterdam run promises the same mix of spectacle, recognisable hits and unapologetic rock theatre.

Set in a near-future world where major internet corporations dominate and real pop and rock music has been pushed aside, the story follows a rebellious fight to break that ban and bring live music back to life. Songs including Bohemian Rhapsody, I Want To Break Free and Somebody To Love form the backbone of the show, while cast members named include Brecht van Arnhem, Lucas Hamming, Magtel de Laat and Nyassa Alberta. With strong early reviews and a built-in catalogue of crowd-pleasers, this looks set to be one of the season’s bigger musical events in Rotterdam.
