Happy camper

Fifteen years after its première, Happy Camper returns to Rotterdam for an anniversary show at LantarenVenster. The project around keyboardist Job Roggeveen has always felt a little unlike anything else: tender indie-pop songs with traces of chanson, Eastern European influences, and a strong sense of theatrical warmth. Back at the beginning, the set-up featured a rotating cast of singers and even an animated yeti named Manfred, which gives you a decent clue that this was never meant to be ordinary.

Since then, Happy Camper has built a rich history with five albums, an Edison, and appearances at festivals such as Lowlands and Into The Great Wide Open. For this anniversary concert, regular members including Leine, Bouke Zoete, and clarinet virtuoso Edward Capel will be joined by guest vocalists from across the project’s musical past. Expect an evening full of warmth, delicate songs, and the sort of arrangements you can quietly disappear into.
