Description
Rotterdam deathcore band Distant return to their hometown on Friday 6 November 2026 to celebrate the release of their new album, Into Despair. Taking over Baroeg for an evening of crushing riffs, thunderous breakdowns and extreme metal, they are joined by No Face No Case, Gutrectomy, Changing Tides and Torn From Oblivion.
With roots in Rotterdam and Slovakia, Distant have built an international reputation for their uncompromising downtempo deathcore. Fronted by Slovak vocalist Alan Grnja, the four-piece have toured extensively alongside major acts including Lorna Shore and In Flames. According to Buma Cultuur's research, Distant ranked fifth among Dutch acts performing the most international shows, with 102 performances abroad.
The band previously celebrated the release of their 2023 album Heritage with a sold-out show at Baroeg. Now they return to the venue with fresh material and another formidable line-up of heavy bands.
Five bands, one heavy night
Joining Distant are four acts representing different corners of the extreme metal scene. Prague-based No Face No Case combine nu-beatdown with hip-hop influences and relentless breakdowns, while Germany's Gutrectomy deliver a punishing mixture of slam, deathcore and beatdown.
Dutch metalcore and deathcore outfit Changing Tides return after supporting Distant's previous album release, bringing influences from bands such as Bleed From Within and Thy Art Is Murder. Eindhoven's Torn From Oblivion complete the line-up with aggressive deathcore and material from their 2025 EP Transcend.

Description
Baroeg is a legendary subcultural pop venue in Rotterdam, known as the city’s home base for hard and alternative music. Since the early 1980s it has been the go-to spot for metal, punk, hardcore, rock, gothic, industrial, psychobilly and other underground styles. What started as an open youth centre grew into a full pop podium with a loyal community and its own annual festival, Baroeg Open Air.
The venue sits in the Lombardijen neighbourhood by the Spinozapark and has an intimate club vibe: a compact hall with a low stage, solid sound system and a bar where artists and visitors mingle. For many underground and alternative fans in Rotterdam, Baroeg is less a random venue and more a second living room.
