Jorge Rossy Vibes Quartet

Spanish jazz musician Jorge Rossy comes to LantarenVenster with a new quartet featuring trumpeter Milena Casado, double bassist Robert Landfermann and drummer Cornelia Nilsson.

Rossy is best known as the former drummer of the Brad Mehldau Trio and has appeared on more than 200 recordings alongside musicians including Joshua Redman, Mark Turner and Kurt Rosenwinkel. In recent years, he has increasingly focused on vibraphone and marimba, developing a melodic approach that brings a different dimension to his music.

For this new quartet, Rossy moves between leading the melodies and providing a rhythmic foundation, sharing the musical space with three musicians from different generations of contemporary jazz. Casado released her debut album Reflection of Another Self, Landfermann received the German Jazz Prize in 2022, and Nilsson has established herself with her debut Where Do You Go?. Although Rossy has performed with each musician individually, this is their first project together as a quartet.

The group presents original compositions and arrangements by Rossy, with material from its album 11 Years. Expect an evening of melodic improvisation, rhythmic interplay and unexpected musical conversations.
