Riffsniffer presents a heavy triple bill at Baroeg, led by Argentinian stoner doom trio Mephistofeles.

The band returns to Rotterdam after performing at Roodkapje in October. Their live sound combines slow, suffocating doom riffs, lo-fi fuzz and psychedelia with the atmosphere of a distorted VHS horror film.

Hailing from Paraná, Mephistofeles has developed an international cult following through hypnotic repetition, raw simplicity and a visual style balancing ritual and nightmare. Fans of Electric Wizard, Hawkwind and Motorpsycho can expect a dark journey into stoner doom.

Japanese psychedelic rock band Green Milk From The Planet Orange and Norwegian stoner rock group Kal-El complete the line-up.

Description

Baroeg is a legendary subcultural pop venue in Rotterdam, known as the city’s home base for hard and alternative music. Since the early 1980s it has been the go-to spot for metal, punk, hardcore, rock, gothic, industrial, psychobilly and other underground styles. What started as an open youth centre grew into a full pop podium with a loyal community and its own annual festival, Baroeg Open Air. 

The venue sits in the Lombardijen neighbourhood by the Spinozapark and has an intimate club vibe: a compact hall with a low stage, solid sound system and a bar where artists and visitors mingle. For many underground and alternative fans in Rotterdam, Baroeg is less a random venue and more a second living room.
