Description

Chicago trio Macabre brings its long-running mix of death metal, grindcore and dark true-crime storytelling to Baroeg. Active since 1985, the band has built a style entirely its own, turning stories about serial killers, grave robbers and other infamous figures into fast, theatrical and frequently unsettling metal songs.

Macabre has appeared at Baroeg seven times before, but this concert marks the band’s first visit to the venue’s new building. The Rotterdam stop forms part of the European Killing Spree 2026 tour.

Dutch death metal band Damnation opens the evening, setting the tone for a night of heavy riffs, grim subject matter and music with very little interest in good manners.

Description

Baroeg is a legendary subcultural pop venue in Rotterdam, known as the city’s home base for hard and alternative music. Since the early 1980s it has been the go-to spot for metal, punk, hardcore, rock, gothic, industrial, psychobilly and other underground styles. What started as an open youth centre grew into a full pop podium with a loyal community and its own annual festival, Baroeg Open Air. 

The venue sits in the Lombardijen neighbourhood by the Spinozapark and has an intimate club vibe: a compact hall with a low stage, solid sound system and a bar where artists and visitors mingle. For many underground and alternative fans in Rotterdam, Baroeg is less a random venue and more a second living room.
