Every year, Art Rotterdam draws art, artists and collectors from all over the world. As the premier art fair in the Netherlands, Art Rotterdam is a great opportunity to view and even purchase amazing new art from local and international artists.

What is Art Rotterdam?

Art Rotterdam is the main art fair in the Netherlands. The annual fair provides a platform for the newest developments in visual art. In particular, the fair's focus on recent art, the variety of its participants and sections, the event's connection with the city of Rotterdam and the iconic location (Van Nelle factory) give Art Rotterdam a unique atmosphere that is unlike any other.

For an increasing number of art professionals and collectors worldwide, Art Rotterdam has become a preferred destination within the international field of art fairs. The event attracts more visitors from the Netherlands and abroad each year.

What to expect at Art Rotterdam 2020?

At Art Rotterdam, there's a Main Section, Solo / Duo section, New Art section and a Projections section for video. Art Rotterdam brings together art and artists from mostly The Netherlands as well as from many other countries, including Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. New this year, are The Performance Show, Mural Machine painting Show and the new presentation of the section dedicated to video art under the name citizenM Projections.

The Performance Show
In 2020, performance art takes the stage at Art Rotterdam. The Performance Show is a new initiative of Art Rotterdam and offers visitors a varied and continuous programme from Friday to Sunday, a stone's throw away from the fair: in the industrial setting of AVL Mundo / Atelier Van Lieshout. For The Performance Show, Art Rotterdam has entered into a collaboration with Witte de With and IFFR, among others. The programme is compiled by Zippora Elders, artistic director of Kunstfort at Vijfhuizen and curator of modern and contemporary art.

Mural Machine painting Show
On the grounds of the Van Nelle factory, opposite the entrance to the fair, three international mural specialists create a daily changing mural on a temporary wall, created by mechanical means. This Mural Machine painting Show is provided by the Rotterdam-based firm MURALS Inc., which specializes in contemporary murals.

citizenM Projections
The film and video art section, underwent a makeover and has been transformed into citizenM Projections. citizenM, the hotel chain with art in its DNA, has been a partner of Art Rotterdam for years.
