The Hobknobs come to V11 with a release show for their debut album Helmets Off. The band, led by songwriters Yaël Dekker of The Klittens and Arie van Vliet of Lewsberg, makes vintage guitar pop with rough edges, understated charm and very little unnecessary decoration.

Their sound is melodic, melancholic and deliberately stripped back. With a mix of indie pop, guitar pop, rock ’n’ roll and alt-country, The Hobknobs create songs that feel familiar but slightly off-centre in the best way. The album leaves space for the listener, proving that strong songs can hit harder when they are not buried under too much polish.

The band name comes from the classic British Hobnob biscuit, which Arie van Vliet once encountered in a documentary. Its odd, stubborn charm turned out to be a good match for the band’s own character.
